Rainbow Tower

Was walking from the pool over at the Lagoon tower with the boys to the one over by the Rainbow Tower, so as to "mix it up" in their pool playing.

Noticed this shot of the Sun apexed just above and center on the Rainbow Tower while walking between pools and snapped it with my handy waterproof Pentax Optio W60.

Palms in Paradise

Been behind on catching up on everyone's great photostreams these past few days due to a few reasons: 1) Back in Japan now, so was busy with the logistics of flying back with 4 weeks of luggage and family! 2) Got Swimmer's Ear (too much surfing!), so am on some *heavy* pain killers right now (forgive me if a comment I make doesn't make sense on anyone's pics over the next few days ;-)

Our Texas/Hawaii trip is all done now. The longest vacation we've ever had outside of Japan (4 weeks!). Gotta say, going back home to Texas with the whole family was somewhat of a religious/pilgrimage experience for me as it was a big deal for the boys to see/feel the other 1/2 of their heritage.

Hawaii was awesome as it always is. Been going there every year for about 20 years now and still as much fun every time (ex the Swimmers Ear this time!).

I still have a few pics to upload from the Hawaii portion of the trip and will drip them in over the next few days.

Non-HDR shot taken with my Pentax Optio W60 *waterproof* camera as I lounge in a chair poolside (one with the slides next to the Lagoon tower) at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.

Waikiki Fireworks

Biggest apologies for posting yet *another* photo from the same location (our balcony) with the same but slightly different view!

I really don't like posting similar shots as I like to keep my photostream varied for me, the family, and all my friends out there. However its been real hard to get out of the complex here as it has everything we need, so I'll just have to make do with similar shots on this trip. We're suffering just fine though ;-)

Not often I get the whole family into a shot these days, however some friends of ours were with us on the beach at the Hilton Lagoon and were kind enough to snap this of us with my waterproof Pentax W60 that I keep with me when in the water.

And to all the other Father's out there...a big Happy Father's Day to us all tomorrow!

One drawback about staying here is that the place is too good in that I'm not venturing out of the complex (except to surf!); thus don't have any new original shots to post!

So...posting another shot taken from our balcony, but in the evening at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.

Another perk of staying at the Hilton Hawaiian Village is that we get front row beachside seats to the every-Friday fireworks. Then again, so does everyone else up and down the beach, as all of Waikiki can view it; at least we're a bit closer ;-)

Hilton Hawaiian Village

First time staying at this resort, as we'd normally stay at our timeshare further down the beach. Since I sold my timeshare last year, was a good chance to try this out, as I've had many friends recommend it; especially if you have kids.

Have to say this place is by far the best place to stay on Waikiki beach with kids. Its the numerous pools and access to a quieter beach and lagoon that make all the difference. Complimentary towels for guests and the ability to order food and drink pool-side is a big plus too. Biggest drawback: I have to hike it 500m back up the beach with my surfboard to access the better breaks :-(
