Dirty Dicks [Explored]

This was a favourite place of mine when I was in my teens and studying photography in London. I used to call in for a drink and some food before setting off for my evening class at what was then called the London College of Printing at the Elephant and Castle (now called the London School of Communications).

Dirty Dicks, opposite Liverpool Street Station, is a very old establishment built in 1745 and you can read all about it here:

The dirty cobwebs and mummified cat referred to were still on show when I used to go there, but apparently they have now been encased in a glass cabinet.

Let The Train Take The Strain. London's Liverpool Street Station at lunchtime today. I rarely go to London, nor indeed into my own town, but coincidentally had to go to a meeting in London today so was able to take a few photographs at the same time!

Oyster Catcher

One of the images that I took at Heybridge Basin last weekend. The first time I've photographed an Oyster catcher. Further along the lake there was a sign warning that there was evidence of blue-green algae in the water. I'm not sure if that was why there was foam at the edge of the water. I think the algae can be harmful to birds in some circumstances and it's definitely harmful to cats and dogs. Does anyone else know anything about it?

The Violinist

Taken on a recent visit to London. It was a freezing cold day and even unpleasantly chilly in the underground. As I went up an escalator I could hear the most beautiful music from a violin and when I reached the top I saw this violinist. He must have been frozen standing there in the draught, no wonder he wasn't smiling. When I looked at the photograph afterwards I realised that I had captured a coin just as it was being thrown into the violin case. Please view on black.

Have Dogs, Will Travel

I was in Cambridge on Saturday and while I was in the market square I spotted these two dogs. They were in a little trailer that the owner towed behind her bicycle! They looked so happy.

Looking up the steps in the Grand Hall at the British Museum. I went there with my friend Tara yesterday to see the Life and Death Pompeii and Herculaneum exhibition. It was an incredible experience.

In contrast with my previous upload of the doors at Broomfield Church, these are one of the three automatic doors at the main entrance to the hospital where I work. I waited for them to open so that you could catch a glimpse of the interior and see the sculptured figure within. A view of the inside of the atrium can be seen at the following link:

This is the doorway at St Mary's Church, Broomfield in Essex. It's a stone's throw from where I live and I pass by it every day on my journey to work.I have photographed this doorway before and the other photograph can be viewed by clicking on the link below:

This morning the light was dappling through the tree branches and there was frost on the roof tiles. The little letterbox on the door has a message that reads "Post your prayer requests in here and we will pray for you". I thought that was lovely!
