Mackinac Island, Michigan is a small island with a long history. Located on Lake Huron, it's accessible by boat. Motorized vehicles have been prohibited on the island since 1898.

Half a year ago, I was standing on the beach in Vík. I stared out at the sea and reflected on how much had happened to me in the six months prior. Little did I know how much more change was coming in the near future. Sometimes life changes as fast as the weather in Iceland. I will continue to weather the storm, and hopefully the sun will be shining when I return to Vík.

I picked up the nicest pair of mittens here: light green with large snowflakes on the back. The woman who sold them to me explained how she had knit them herself. I replied that they were beautiful. Sadly my Icelandic accent is so horrible, I think what I said sounded like something else as she just stared at me with a confused look on her face.

Time to change something.

This is not really the river Acheron, but I'm sure I would be in pain from being slightly cooked if I stepped in it. This is discharge water from the Krafla geothermal power station in north Iceland.
