The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) works to empower herder groups in Must -- many now develop their own land-use plans, conservation maps and sustainable practices for water, forest and pasture management. These new methods improve the herders' livelihoods while protecting the biodiversity of the region.

The Secretary-General was invited to name a newborn takhi, an endangered Mongolian wild horse, and called him Peace, "Enkhtaivan" in Mongolian.
