New Mexico Landscape

First sight of New Mexico, from the Airplane high above the (mostly) barren land did not promise much… Boy! How wrong was that impression! Once I got the chance to travel around by car, I have completely changed my mind about the natural beauty of the land there and completely fell in love with it. From multi-colored desert plains to deep green forests and high snow-covered peaks all full of life with beautiful flora and fauna, New Mexico is a paradise for nature and photography lovers. I love to travel around New Mexico and love to make pictures there because you can stumble upon a great photo opportunity regardless of the area, season or time of the day!
This photo has been taken along highway 180 stretching for miles and miles “straight like an arrow” somewhere between the towns of Silver City and Deming in the south-west corner of the state. It was late afternoon, with almost no other cars on the road. One could almost have set the steering wheel straight and enjoy the view on the side while the car would follow the road… I did not do that but I did stop quite a few times that day only to enjoy the view and take some photos of simple and beautiful landscape along the road.

....Located on a hill overlooking the confluence of the Sava river into the Danube. The Romans were the first to build a fort (castrum) at this site and in the late 1st century AD, it became HQ of the IV Flavian Legion. Over the centuries of sieges, battles and conquests, the fortress was repeatedly razed to the ground, rebuilt and restructured. It took on its present shape round the end of the 18th century, but again, the wars that followed swept away nearly all the buildings. The Belgrade Fortress consists of Upper Town, Lower Town and Kalemegdan Park. Kalemegdan Park was created as late as the 19th century, on a plateau in front of the fortress, which had been cleared for centuries to allow for unobstructed view of the advancing enemy. The park is popular because of its many shady benches, random sculptures, art pavilion, Zoo, amusement park, souvenir vendors. It is the favourite haunt of chess players, squirrels and couples in love.
The most of the preserved fortress ramparts and gates are located in the Upper town, as well as the Military Museum, St. Petka and Ružica churches, Roman Well (an intriguing building whose eerie waters claimed many lives) and the symbol of Belgrade - Pobednik (The Victor). ...

Beautiful winter day and great scenery atop the High Falls in Muskoka, Ontario Canada. Unfortunately land is privately owned downstream from the falls and was not accessible at the time of my visit so I could not take any frontal photo worth sharing. All I could see and take picture of was a bit of side of the falls, through some woods and shrubs. Still, it is a beautiful place, worth seeing even with limited access.

I did not expect to see such a gorgeous sunrise and was not prepared to take photos so I have just stopped by, took several pictures and was off to work…
…I should start carrying tripod and leaving for work earlier from now on 
P.S. I did not post-process this photo at all. As beautifull as they are in the photo, the colors were even more amazing in real life…

Decaying pier in Britannia Beach BC Canada

Even though it is on the ocean, Britannia Beach is not a beach at all. It is a small mining town located off the Sea to Sky highway between Vancouver and Whistler in British Columbia, Canada. Copper mine was opened in 1904 and worked (more or less) continuously till 1974. Nowadays Britannia Beach is home to about 300 people, very interesting Museum of Mining and beautiful landscapes. If you happen to drive along “Sea to Sky Highway” between Vancouver and Whistler, you should take time to stop and enjoy this nice little place.

Stone path to the Whyte islet in Whytecliff Marine Park in Horseshoe Bay, British Columbia, Canada. Accessible only at low tide.
Great place for picnics, fantastic views of the Howe sound and a very popular scuba-diving location too…

This year (2008) I have traveled to Germany several times and was able to spend some time in Tuebingen (again). That little town is one of my most favourite places on earth and It is hard for me to choose from hundreds of photos I have taken there. This is the one I'm getting back to quite often, so I guess it qualifies it to be shown to my Flickr friends :-)

Nice little lake in a nice little town in Germany. I had a great time there, both really late at night and (as seen here) really early in the morning :-)
Picture has not been altered in any way (I did intend to crop and saturate a bit but at the end decided original still looks the best and true to the moment)
