La iglesia de Santa Eufemia es el segundo templo más grande de Ourense, después de la catedral. Se empezó a construir en el siglo XVII, aunque su fachada, excepcional ejemplo del barroco gallego, no se finalizó hasta un siglo después. Fray Plácido Iglesias fue quien se encargó de su diseño. Como la línea de las casas cercanas a la iglesia estaba muy próxima, ideó un frontispicio cóncavo, para que se pudiera apreciar mejor. El interior del templo consta de planta de cruz latina con tres naves longitudinales, y está presidido por un gran altar barroco con el Cristo de la Esperanza, obra del siglo XVIII.

Queridos amigos, no os podéis hacer una idea clara, siquiera mínimamente aproximada, de lo mucho que puedo estaros echando en falta. La aparición de hoy me la he tomado a modo de terapia. No podía más. Lo reconozco, estoy enganchado a todos vosotros y esto no parece tener una sencilla solución, pues continúo hasta arriba de trabajo, tanto en el periódico como en mis quehaceres domésticos (sí, lo sé, soy un quejica y he de ponerme las pilas).
En adelante, procuraré sacar el tiempo de donde sea y tratar de estar al día con unas personas con las que he trazado estrechos vínculos que no estoy dispuesto a dejar en el olvido.
