Golden walk

This photograph started out life all green. I turned it into a golden autumn shot by playing with the stuff under Camera calibration in Lightroom.

There are basically two processes, both depending on trial and error.

First drag the clarity slider all the way to the left to de-clarify the shot.

Next go right to the bottom of the right-hand panel and play with the sliders under Camera calibration to see what happens. I left the process as 2010 (current) and profile as Adobe standard, but I then tried out the eight sliders for the shadow tints and the hue and saturation sliders for the three primary colours.

I finished by adjusting the main saturation , vibration and fill light sliders in the section near the top of the panel.

Looking at the shot this morning I realised I could have improved the photo - possibly - by using the adjustment brush to re-clarify and de-saturate the people in the distance.

These duckling siblings were led down this tiny weir on the River Dodder in Dublin by their mother who then swam upstream again and tried to get them to climb the weir....
Note how one of the ducklings is so much bigger than the others. It must be from an earlier brood, or perhaps adopted by the mallard mother.

This was taken on the second morning I got up early to photograph the sunrise . . . only there was thick fog out to sea and the sun was not visible. So I went to the roof of a Marbella shopping plaza overlooking the beach (left) and took this one. Taken on a tripod and using the two-second timer as my wireless remote control had frozen and was unuseable.

The colour has been adjusted in Lightroom 3.6.

The swan in the centre was in a filthy mood in Bushy Park, Dublin, constantly attacking other swans. It may have had somethiing to do with cygnets accompanying the group ... or maybe not; it wasn't clear to the human observers.
