Mat aka แมทธิว แซมสัน posted a photo:

Whilst I lived in North East Thailand (Isan), I was introduced to this old man, who happens to be deaf, dumb and blind. His only contact with the outside world is through the touch of his hands.

Whilst he lived surrounded by 3 generations spawned by him, one could feel his distress and see the utter loneliness in which he existed.

Life went on around him, whilst he remained totally oblivious to it. A very touching moment...

Whilst teaching English in North-East Thailand (Isan), this old gentleman was my next door neighbour. He is 89 years old and still functions at a hundred miles an hour.

During our conversation, my control of the Thai language put a big smile on his face whilst we sat fixing one of the village children's bicycle on his porch. I managed to capture this expression, one of timeless joy and happiness.

During my trip to Isaan (North-East Thailand), I was privileged to meet my friend's great grandmother, who happens to have turned 94 last week.

Amidst her age and years spent working in the rice fields, she still walks over 5 miles per day to the local "town" and back. She also has all her head and enjoys the visit of her very extended family. From what I understand (my isaan dialect is sketchy), she has 8 children (6 still alive), 25 grandchildren (19 still alive), 35+ great-grandchildren... And counting...
