Every *true* Southern Belle owns at least one strand of pearls. More often than not, they're given to her for either her 16th birthday, or graduation. It's tradition. No Belle is complete without her beloved pearls.

The perfect fainting couch is also a wonderful accessory to the Belle's repetoire of charms.

When you combine both pearls *and* fainting couches, you are most certainly sure to win the affection of every gentlman caller you may encounter.

So, this whole uploading from vacation thing is just not satisfactory to me! I'm a day behind in uploading, and will probably stay at least a day or two behind until I get back to Atlanta. I'm finally at the beach....gah! It seemed like it would never get here.

With sparkles...sigh. Yet another one of my 365 phases. I don't know how long I'll be able to stand the cuteness of the sparkles, but it will be fun while it lasts.

In other news, I got into a rumble-in-the-jungle at a well-known coffee shop chain today. I love the place, and have had a lot of good experiences there. I've been going to the same location every single day for over a year now. The baristas know me, and they're always super cool. I bring them samples of makeup and skincare, and they give me free coffee. It's a beautiful thing.

Well, I don't know if this location is under new management or WHAT, but today I went with a coworker to get some coffee before work, and the baristas were super-divas. I've seen these girls a few times before, they're fairly new, but they've never been flat out rude. It's a long story what happened, but let's just say it didn't end well. The last thing I remember is dumping my coffee in the trash before grabbing four empty sugar jars (they were ALL empty), an empty container of whole milk, and an empty container of half-and-half and slamming them on the counter.

I'm not really sure what I was trying to communicate with that, but it felt good. Public displays of rage are not normally my style, but this incident REALLY rubbed me the wrong way, and really hurt my feelings! This coffee shop is a place in my life that I consider a happy place, and to be treated like dirt just because I walked in to order some coffee...that offends me deeply!

I mean, really. How hard is it to be friendly with people and...I know this is stretching it...make sure the half-and-half, sugar, and stirrers are stocked? Really?

Their coffee tastes charred, anyway.

Oh, and Happy Bench Monday!

Also, for those of you who've asked - the sparkles are a combination of brushes in CS4. So, I made the sparkle brush, adjusted the shape/size, added a gaussian blur, then an outer glow with a reddish hue. The End.

YOWZERS! That sun was burning my retinas!

I have this weird habit of pointing my remote at the sun instead of at the camera. I have no earthly idea why, but I'll find myself pushing the remote as hard as I can, but the shutter won't release, and then I realize I'm pointing at the sun, and not at ye olde Nikon.

Why do I do that???

Anyway, this Saturday is July 4th! Anyone doing anything fun - what are your plans? Sadly, I'll be working all day, but might get to see some fireworks...we'll see.

Not entirely sure what happened here. Ye olde Nikon is playing tricks on us. Yes, the building is somewhat tall, and I'm about 5'4"...but...the scale was completely warped when I look through the viewfinder, so I look 3'9". Still, I dig it.

I never completed my "Sunscreen" series, so today, I decided to do so. I could have done some sort of witty, contrived photo, but I think me just being myself is all I really needed to convey the mood of this quote.

Never in my life have I had to remind myself so many times that even though things didn't work out as I had hoped, it doesn't mean I've failed. On the contrary. This is a new beginning, a stepping stone to something greater. I'm uncertain of the future, but I'm free.

So many places in Georgia absolutely fascinate me. Maybe it's the fact that I'm obsessed with American history, combined with the fact that I LOVE my state...but anyway, I have dreams about these places at night. When I dream about them, they're always bright, blurry, glowing and golden.

And, for some reason, there's always a violin playing in the background.
