Yacht MORNA on Sydney Harbour

Australian National Maritime Museum on The Commons posted a photo:

MORNA was designed by William Fife III and built for Sir Alexander MacCormick in 1913. (MacCormick also owned ADA.) MORNA was later owned by Frank Packer and Sir Claude Plowman.

Plowman skippered MORNA to three successive 'first across the line' wins at the Sydney-Hobart Yacht Race from 1946-1948. Under new owners, the Livingston brothers, and a new name KURREWA IV, the vessel was first across the line four more times for a total of seven line honours between 1946 and 1960.

ISEA was a Walter Reeks designed yacht, build by Ford around 1887 for Dr F. Milford. In 1897 ISEA was purchased by Mr Walter Marks, who made several alterations to the design and raced the yacht to many successful championship wins.

Yacht BOOMERANG sailing on Sydney Harbour

BOOMERANG was designed by Walter Reeks and built by W. Holmes in 1903.

Initially named BONA, the yacht was owned by a series of prominent people including C. Wallace, H. Howard Smith, C. Lloyd-Jones and the Albert family, who renamed the vessel BOOMERANG when they purchased it in the late 1920s.

BOOMERANG became a regular and welcome sight on Sydney Harbour during the late 1920s and 1930s as the Albert family used it to entertain relatives and VIP guests. In 1988 the Alberts donated BOOMERANG to the Sydney Heritage Fleet. Read more about BOOMERANG on the Australian Register of Historic Vessels.

ADA was designed and built in 1924 by William Fife III and commissioned by prominent Sydney surgeon Sir Alex McCormick. The vessel took part in several Sydney to Hobart Yacht races and was renamed ASTOR in 1960. See ASTOR's entry on the Australian Register of Historic Vessels for a detailed history of this yacht.
