Was doing a little photo walk around Shelley Lake park (Raleigh NC) today and saw this Blue (?) Heron looking for lunch. Seemed content to stay far away from the shore. Was a little far away for the longest lens I had in my bag, a 70-200, so I had to crop it down a little. Wish it would have been closer so I could have gotten it with a better background.

From Fort Charlotte at St. Vincent

This is a stitch of 8 raw files from a D70, hand-held portrait with a 17mm focal length.

Have had the files for this sitting on a drive from 2006. Probably was my first real attempt to try to shoot a pano on a DSLR. I dug the files out to try out the stitching capabilities in PS CS4. My previous attempts at stitching these were not worth keeping. I had to crop off about 10% off each side due to the files not lining up well, but overall I am very happy at the way it turned out. Think I took these with an about 50% frame-to-frame overlap.
