claidheamh mòr

poitzoit posted a photo:

claidheamh mòr, or "Great Sword" is the original name given to the claymore. This is a crude backhanger I made for my just as cheap claymore replica. Weighing at a measly 2 pounds or so, it's easy to carry compared to what a real one would be ;).

To make this shot, it took awhile, as I didn't have anyone to help me set it up, and I always forget to set up a marker on the floor... but I used tinker tubes to set up the black shower curtain in the background, a bungee cord to hold my snooted 300ez flash to the left, a tinkertube stand mounted sunpak with a $1 sanded-container diffuser just to the right and 3 inches in front, and an old Ascor w/ fill flap turned flag just at the bottom (I only wanted it to hit the sword, wish I had someone to assist me so I could have gotten the sword reflections perfect, but it may have taken away from the shadows... ah well.

Anyhow, after I took the shot I tweaked it in photoshop, and err, "borrowed" the ball hilt from another shot because this one cropped it out. I cloned the background a bit to extend it further upwards, and used warp to try and blend it's perspective in correctly.
