I was in Halifax, last Saturday, as I was going to my Grandson's birthday party the following morning. I had a wonderful supper with Mr. & Mrs. cage_ee, my daughter and her family.

Afterwards, cage_ee and I went for a walk down at the Halifax Waterfront, just in time to see the moon rise over the Dartmouth refinery. Little did I know that while I was shooting this, my friend was also shooting me.

The moon is waning gibbous at 99.8%.

Taken in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada on 1 September 2012. The shot is completely hand held.

I couldn't capture last night's full moon due to cloud cover, and I really wanted to, as it was the second full moon in August.

Tonight, I am in Halifax, as I came down for the night, to go to my Grandson's birthday party tomorrow morning. I had a wonderful supper with Mr. & Mrs. cage_ee, my daughter and her family.

Afterwards, cage_ee and went for a walk down at the Halifax Waterfront, just in time to see the moon rise over the Dartmouth refinery. I have a few interesting shots that I will post at another time, where the moon is distorted by the hot air from the refinery's chimneys.

My little mini vacation is quickly coming to a close. Tonight is my last night in the Halifax Regional Municipality, as I will hit the road, tomorrow morning, to head back home.

I thought I would spend part of the evening watching the setting sun from another one of my old favorite locations.

Thank you to cage_ee and family for making the vacation a most enjoyable one.

Nothing really new to shoot outside, so I thought to go look in the archives again. My good friend, cage_ee and I had done a walk of the Public Gardens in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, the morning before my daughter's wedding back in August 2010. We had spent a fair bit of time over in the dahlia section, which is where we found this very unique one.

It had a tag of "Sylvia J. named by Ed Alley" on a marker by the flower.

As a side adventure, today, I went out hoping to buy a new monitor. The one I had been using was on its last legs, having been my late Father's. Unfortunately, buying a new monitor for my environment is going to be difficult for technical reasons.

So I swapped out the old one with one I brought up with me from Halifax when I moved back to Moncton. After letting it warm up for a couple of hours, I proceeded to calibrate the monitor for colour using the Spyder4Elite system. I had forgotten how good my own monitor actually was. :)

I had hopes of joining my camera club colleagues, this afternoon, but decided at the last moment that the wind wouldn't be a good idea for my eyes. They are being treated for an infection that was found this Friday morning.

I needed something to post this afternoon, so I went diving into my photo archives and found something.

Thank you to coates irene and cage_ee for identifying it as a dahlia. We all know how terrible I am with flower identification.

Last night, I had hopes that I would be going out this afternoon shooting. When I had last looked at the weather, the afternoon forecast called for clear skies, and just above freezing temperatures. Well, we know how unpredictable the weather can be, so all that has changed into a dull and drab February day.

I needed something to brighten my day, so I went diving into my photo archives and found something.

This is a Little Ceasar Dahlia.

I am spending this weekend in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, as a mini vacation. The weather has been not been all that pleasant. I was treated to this wonderful display on the way out for supper with Mr. & Mrs cage_ee.

Cage_ee was driving across the Murray Mackay Bridge from Dartmouth to Halifax. Basically, this was a quick snap as it was shot through the passenger window trying to get a capture between bridge struts. :)

The weather for my daughter's wedding day was just superb three weeks ago. But, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada did have a foggy evening while I was there. Having lived in Halifax, I used to take the fog for granted and not even bother going out to shoot, but it really does have an ambiance of its own.

I wasn't doing anything with friends or family this particular evening and it was too early to retire to the Hotel, so I decided to go for an evening walk, with just the lens on the camera.

I am just walking by the Ferry Terminal, as the harbour passenger ferry has left. It didn't take long for it to completely disappear.

I am on my way back up to the Prince George Hotel, which will lead me by the street that goes up to the Halifax Citadel Town Clock. By this time, the fog is definitely soupy. :)

While I was in town for my daughter's wedding, I got a chance to go shooting with one of my best friends, cage_ee. We spent a morning in the Halifax Public Gardens where the flora and the fauna were quite beautiful, as was the weather. It would seem that my good friend, cage_ee, also caught me in the act of taking this shot. :)

Anytime that I visit the Gardens, I like to stop by the Crown of Thorns (Euphorbia milii) to see if has produced another sixteen blossom cluster. It hadn't, so I still took a shot.

I arrived in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada a few days early before my daughter's wedding. She had needed me there for Thursday morning event ahead of the Sunday wedding.

In the afternoon, my son, his girlfriend, and I went up to the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site, mainly to show her around. While there, we got stuck at the exit due to a changing of the guard.

This is a panoramic view near the end of dinner, at my daughter's wedding. I estimated quickly that we had about 110 people in this shot, when it was taken. I had just come back from checking on something at the Front Desk; stepped back into the room; saw the opportunity; and, did eight handheld shots. I had forgotten that I had intentionally done this for a panorama until yesterday.

The quintet were superb through the Bride & Groom's Reception, the Wedding Ceremony, and Dinner, playing exquisitely. After Dinner, another band moved in for the Dance, and did they ever rock the house.

Taken at the Dinner and Dance after my daughter's marriage ceremony. It was held at the Prince George Hotel, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada on 8 August 2010.

I guess if Liverpool, England can have lamb bananas, then Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada can have these dolphins.

They were created for the 100th Anniversary of the Canadian Navy. I saw several of them, in different designs, while I was walking the harbourfront this foggy evening a few days before my daughter's wedding.

The morning of my daughter's wedding, 8 August 2010, I had woken once again before sunrise in the city, not that I had wanted to. It was going to be a big day, so I thought to check out the sunrise, since I was up.

This two-shot, handheld, panorama is taken from the sixth floor elevator foyer of the Prince George Hotel, on Market Street, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. It is shot through glass with a circular-polarizer to eliminate the reflection from the window.

While I was in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada for my daughter's wedding, I had a little time to spend with friends. cage_ee and I decided to spend a couple of hours milling about the Public Gardens in Halifax.

The Public Gardens is full of flowers and quite a bit of waterfowl, at this time are year. This gander certainly made a nice subject by it's pond.

My daughter's wedding was held on 8 August 2010 at the Prince George Hotel in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. She had chosen silver and purple for her wedding colours, as she has always loved purple since a young child. I was personally impressed by the level of detail in the venue as well.

I really have to commend whoever thought of this format for the seating arrangements. Normally, I am used to little place cards on the tables, that one has to search the whole venue to find where one is seated. This format turned out to be really optimal, as people then went directly to one of the eleven tables after finding themselves on the list.

Everyone was accounted for, as well, as we didn't have anybody not on the list.

Bravo to all for this great job.
