Work work, and no play. It feels like forever since I've gone out to take photos. This is a photo I took way back in 2010. Instead of HDR, I used exposure fusion to create this.

I had the chance to meet up with a long time flickr friend, and amazing photographer, Rasekh aka Wherever I Roam here in Victoria this week. If you like my work, then you'll definitely enjoy his. He has a great collection of photos from all over the world. Check him out.

The above shot was done with exposure fusion in Photomatix. I've never had much success with this method, but this time it finally worked.

Cattle Point Sunrise

I woke up before the crack of dawn this morning to shoot the sunrise with Ireena. This was probably the first sunrise that I've seen in over a year, as I'm primarily a night owl. As you can see it wasn't the greatest sunrise, but it could have been much worse.

I also got to try out a Neutral Density filter for the first time ever. I was pretty impressed with how it brought out the details. On my list of things to get... I think so!

Fan Tan Alley is an alley in Victoria, British Columbia's Chinatown. It runs south from Fisgard Avenue to Pandora Avenue in the block between Government Street and Store Street. It was originally a gambling district with restaurants, shops, and opium dens. Today it is a tourist destination as it contains many small shops including a barber shop, art gallery, Chinese cafe and apartments. It is most famous for being the narrowest street in Canada. At its narrowest point it is only 0.9 metres wide.

The Uplands is Victoria's richest neighborhood. There are no homes under 1 million dollars here, and the most expensive Mansion is worth 11.6 Million. I've had this shot planned out in my head for sometime now, and finally got around to doing it today.

The fall colors are finnally starting to show up here in Victoria. I had terrible luck with the weather each time I went to Hatley last fall. This time it was a different story. The clouds were just awesome.

The Church Christ Cathedral in Victoria was built in 1929. It is the largest parish in British Columbia. Christ Church is one of the larger churches in Canada too, with a nave of 93' by 140', and towers of 122'.

Through an international design competition, architect J.C.M. Keith of Victoria was commissioned to design a larger and more enduring edifice. He produced a design in 13th century gothic style, inspired by Durham Cathedral in England, with transepts and a great central tower, of concrete and stone with brick vaulting.

Winston Churchill visited the site on September 9, 1929, and was quick to help when the superintendant asked him to lay a stone on the north tower.

From the time it was designed in 1891. It would take nearly a hundred years to complete to it's current state due to the overwhelming cost and time required to build it.

The Cathedral, its Memorial Hall, the Synod office and related buildings occupy the city block bounded by Quadra Street, Burdett Avenue, Vancouver Street and Rockland Avenue. The postal address of the Cathedral is 930 Burdett Avenue, Victoria, B.C. V8V 3G8, that of the former deanery where the cathedral offices are located.
