Koda, the Siberian Husky is my son's and Rowan is his friend's. Rowan has come to stay with Koda for a week and you can see how they are having a great time together. In the middle of their play, they had to pose for this picture....lol
My son took this picture and posted it in his facebook. With his permission I am sharing this friendship picture :-))

Taken at one of my walks. No words can express my feeling when I saw her lying restful on the lush vine. The pictures below are of the same fawn when she was unaware of my presence.

Also called common grey mongoose (Herpestes edwardsii). It is mainly found in southern Asia mainly India, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and some other parts of Asia. It lives in burrows, hedgerows and thickets, among groves of trees, taking shelter under rocks or bushes and even in drains. It is very bold and inquisitive but wary, seldom venturing far from cover. Their tail length equals their body length. Body length: 14-17 inches (36-45cm) Tail length: 17 inches (45 cm),

The kitten has started eating, coming out for the food even though she is terrified. She follows the rules.... not to take anything from strangers, unless her mom permits her.

Normally by this time the cat would move away from the terrace with her family. It is strange they are still here. The picture below is taken when we went to feed them. Ginger always spits, snarls and hiss at us (for bringing food.....hmmm) like the other ones before. Typical street cat behavior.

Taken at my terrace.

This is Ginger's only kid. Ginger is the street cat who brought her tiny baby to our terrace for safety. I named the mother as Ginger because she has orange and white color through out her body. (My husband says why not 'turmeric'......lol) We often get street cats with their litters on the terrace. We always feed the mother till she vacates the place with her family and sometimes for our effort we get to watch the kittens play!!!

This little kitten, I haven't named him/her yet, is full black with an orange patch on her right side of face. It is grown now but still hides behind the granite stones we have kept there. This is the best picture I could take under the circumstances :-)) It has started eating rice, chicken, fish...I think they will move out soon.

He was grazing a 50 feet away on the other side of the fence. He was magnificent!!! I adopted a statue pose and took some pictures. He didn't seem to be happy to see me :-(

I didn't want to miss this opportunity, so took one step back, zoomed in and clicked (yesterday). Then moved away to a safer distance. He was a healthy, young, male. Big compared to others I usually see.

I meant to post this family pictures earlier with the previous deer shots but somehow missed it.
Both mom and dad were very protective. They were listening to my voice (I have a soothing voice, you know.... LOL..) and hesitating whether to stay or run.
Dad decided not to trust me and shepherded the kid towards mom and moved on.
(Nobody understands me even the deers........hmm... )

Taken at Pallikaranai marsh land, Chennai. This curious guy was watching me when I tried to take some pictures of water fowls in the marsh.

Added later: This is only a garden lizard or changeable lizard (Calotes versicolor). I stand corrected by my husband, a zoologist.

The kid was not praying to God, he was looking at me taking his picture, when his mother rushed to his side making lots of noises, he just turned his head upwards. I immediately removed myself as fast as I could from the spot not wanting to face the wrath of his mom or bitten by her. A friend told me he knew a person who got bitten when photographing a monkey and had to be hospitalized and spent a lot for treatment.

A very protective dad!

I saw the dad first. With his beautiful antlers, he was easy to spot. After I took a few shots, I noticed the young one sitting under his feet oblivious to everything going around him/her. He/she was nicely camouflaged with the surroundings, it could easily be missed. I didn't want to frighten them, so without moving my position or adjusting my camera, I took this shot. The next second, dad gave a grunt, the kid shot out and got moving.

The spotted deer of India has a beautiful golden brown coat, which is covered with big white spots. On an average, a male deer (known as stag) grows to a shoulder height of somewhere between 85cm and 90cm. The weight of a stag averages around 80 kg. Does are shorter as well as lighter. The coat of an adult deer has brighter spots as compared to that of fawns. At the same time, the white throat patch of a stag is more prominent than that of a doe.

The antlers of the axis deer of India branch to six points and sweep back into an upward curve. They shed their antlers on an annual basis. Mostly, the antlers of Indian chital deer grow to a length of 20 inches. Only some deer have antlers that reach 30 inches. An Indian spotted deer, whose anglers were 41 inches long, still holds the record for having the longest antlers in the world.

They are freely roaming around the park. The females sometime eat from the hands of the security person and his family. But not the bucks. He is a magnificent animal. When he was relaxing with his family( wife and a kid) I saw him. I used his initial shock to take some pictures of him and his family.

Bonnet Monkey is a long-tailed South Indian macaque, Macaca radiata, having a gray-brown coat and a cap like thatch of hair at the top of its head.

This kid was playing with another kid oblivious of anybody. Suddenly he turned around to see me with the camera.

Another shot from my morning walk today. I was so close to him when I noticed him sitting there concentrating on something. I like his hairy back shining in the morning sun. I just clicked. I didn't stop to focus better or bring his tail inside the picture. His posture was so cute to my eyes.

He is fearless and daring. Met him at the entrance of my friend's house. The bike is his play field. He growls at any and everything!

The dried flower on his head shows how he roams around, poking his little head here and there.
