General note: Born in Jefferson County, Georgia, he came to Providence, Florida in 1858. He enlisted in the Fourth Florida Infantry, Company F on May 23, 1861, at Lake Butler. He was captured at Cedar Key in January 1862 and sent to the Union prison at Fort Delaware until his exchange in August 1862. He underwent treatment for typhoid fever at Richmond, Virginia and Chattanooga, Tennessee. He later fought at the battles of Murfreesboro, Chickamauga, Missionary Ridge, Atlanta, Franklin and Nashville, Tennessee and Bentonville, North Carolina. He surrendered with General Johnston's Army of Tennessee. He was paroled in April 1865 and returned to Providence.

General note: Myers enlisted on August 17, 1861, in Company B, 4th Regiment of the Florida Infantry (commanded by A. W. Hunter). Myers was wounded in the Battle of Missionary Ridge and captured on November 25, 1863. He was subsequently imprisoned until the end of the war, and was released on oath on June 12, 1865. He married Lenora E. Lichtenfielt on February 12, 1879. Myers died October 28, 1882.

General note: Born in Gadsden County on June 28, 1835, as the son of James Black. He fought with Captain Parkhill's volunteers in the Everglades in the third Seminole War (1855-58). Hugh married Mary Ann Harvey of Leon County in 1860. They moved to Liberty County and he became the tax assessor there until the start of the Civil War. He volunteered and was captain of the Liberty Rangers, an infantry outfit. He died on May 12, 1915.
