Ohio State University currently has a Titan Arum in bloom. It opened Saturday evening, April 23, 2011. This is a view of the female flowers at the base of the spadix.

Magee Marsh was hopping with warblers gorging on the insects and spiders. This Prothonotary warbler was totally ignoring all the birders and paparazzi who were flashing it as it foraged on spiders.

Titan Arum leaf

The leaf of the Titan Arum is about 12 feet tall. This is a single leaf that is branched into leaflets. There are five Titan Arums in cultivation at OSU, three started from seed and two from a corm that was split into two plants.

This plant may be the next one to bloom - maybe as early as next year.

The spathe is starting to fade a bit on the one side. The odor isn't quite as overpowering as it was last night. It's great to see it this morning.

This Corpse Flower plant is 5.5 feet tall and just over 3 feet wide at the top flare of the spathe. Bloomed 4/23/2011.

The spathe is 3 feet across and the spadix is about 5 1/2 feet tall.
