With Together Green's support, the 6th grade class from Excel Academy Charter School spent the October day at the Habitat Wildlife Sanctuary in Belmont, MA removing invasive species such as baby buckthorn, and smooth and staghorn sumac, clearing 1.5 acres of meadow. Mass Audubon educators taught the class about the mission of Mass Audubon, what it means to be "green", and the benefits of removing the invasives from the meadow. At the end they enjoyed a sweep-netting program where they caught and identified meadow species and learned their role in the ecosystem.
