colourful scrappy recycled journal with black covers

This journal was 100% recycled: the covers were from an old notebook, the pages are all scrappy salvaged papers, the yarn was leftover from other projects and the waxed linen thread for binding was from the trimmings of binding other books.

This custom order was a special request to bind the contents of a blog for a gift for the blog's writer. I used a Japanese/stab binding and hinged both the front and back covers.

For this softcover journal, I've used quilting fabric for the cover and handmade paper for the pages. Bound with cotton embroidery floss in a longstitch binding, and closes with a vintage button.
