Back to the HDRs today! This is one that I took this summer on a photowalk with Zach Frailey. I had the rented fisheye, which gave me some wide angle goodness to be able to get the sun setting over Heinz Field as well as the path over the Duquesne Bridge.

Since I will be spending he day in downtown Pittsburgh today getting autographs from the likes of Sid Bream, Mike Rupp, Rocky Bleir and Franco Harris, I thought that it would be appropriate to post a picture of a Pittsburgh sports arena. This is a view of some of the seats at Heinz Field I took when I was down there a few weeks back.

Also, I am now on 500px! Follow me over there as well! It's a pretty cool site, but I am definitely still getting used to it!

So this weekend I was at Heinz Field with my dad and a buddy to attend the Pittsburgh Steeler's Fan Blitz. Now, I"ve made it perfectly clear in the past that I am not a Steelers fan in the least, but it was still pretty cool to get a bunch of autographs and meet some old time players. In fact, we even ate lunch with Steelers linebacker Andy Russell, who played for the Steelers from 1966 - 1976.

I know it's a little crooked, but I didn't want to straighten it and cut off the legs of the father and son against the goal post. I thought that they added a nice element to the image.

This is a shot that I took from inside the stadium. You can see what a beautiful day it was!

Another interior Carrie Furnace shot. I really liked this one because it showed the actual decay really well, with the rust and what little paint is left falling off the old cylinders. Of course they is more than enough graffiti to go around, some less appropriate than others!

Back to Carrie! This is another room that was near where we walked into the old furnance, some sort of power station it look liked. The graffiti above the doors obviously caught my attention. Also, not sure if anyone has the keen eye to notice, but I've upgraded (finally) to Photomatix 4 and am going to give it another shot. This shot was processed with it, and I like the results!

Finally got out for a day of shooting! Spent yesterday Wiz walking around Pittsburgh and then at a gem of a find, Carrie Furnace! Got some great HDRs, will work on processing them this week!

For now here is one of PNC Park to kick off the Pirates opening home weekend of the season. I thought that the gloomy sky provided a fitting backdrop for the Pirates seasons! Here's to hope that they will finish over .500 for the first time in 19 years!

I know I just asked you to hit "L" on Saturday, but this looks much better large!

It's been over a year since I posted a panorama and I had a great opportunity to last week to take a new one so I thought I would give it a shot. This is a three image panorama, made up of five exposure HDRs for each shot. To the right you can see downtown Pittsburgh and on the left Heinz Field. i really like how you can see all three rivers too, the Monogahela on the right, the Allegheny in the middle, and then where they join to form the Ohio in the middle.

I've always had a problem getting a nice crisp moon in my night HDRs, in fact an HDR that I took about 20 minutes before this one on my Saturday morning photowalk had a completely blown out moon. I thought that I would give it another try as I was heading over the Ft. Duquesne Bridge, and this one turned out much better! It certainly was a magical time of day to be out!

I thought that I would keep with the church theme for a day here! I've posted a selective color of this same shot before, however I noticed that I had processed this one, and really liked the warm tones and the way the bricks came out, so I thought I would post it! I took it over the summer on a shoot with Brad Truxell.

I do have a ton of new shots to post as well, just wanted to get a few of my older ones up here!

Pittsburgh skyline from pressbox of PNC Park

I guess I will keep with the Pittsburgh skyline for today! This is one I took last summer at PNC Park with Pete Talke. This is the view we had from the press box, and although it was a crappy weather, it still makes for a nice view! This is the same spot I took the fisheye view from (see in comments).

As for processing, this one was processed in Photomatix 3, a 9 RAW exposure HDR. I used my typical slider setup (found on my blog), and then shipped it over the CS5. Used come masking to get rid of some slight halos, added an overall saturation layer, then a green and yellow layer for the field and bridge respectively. Also used a Cooling Filter layer and finally put it through Nik's Sharpener.

Thought that I would keep with the fisheye theme for today! This is the inside of the Keystone Club, and you can see on the left the balcony that I stood on to take the last shot.

You've actually seen shots here before on my stream...the first wedding that I did had the reception held here, and I post eight or so pictures back then!

A quick post for this beautiful Friday! Today starts Rib Fest down at Heinz Field (pictured below the sunflare) so I thought that this shot was appropriate. I took this a few months back with the rented fisheye I had at the time. I still think that this may be my next lens!

In honor of the U2 concert tonight in PIttsburgh I thought that I would post a shot Heinz Field, the venue where they will be playing. I actually took this a few months back on a photowalk on Mt. Washington.

Heading out shooting today with Daniela Duncan who is in town for the U2 concert! Always great to meet fellow photogs!

This is a 9 image, HDR panorama that I took last Saturday at the Pittsburgh Steelers Fan Blitz at Heinz Field. I used the batch processing function for the first time on Photomatix and it worked like a charm. There were some issues with the images that made up the bleachers in the middle of the shot, but even if I processed it by itself, I still got that greyish tone. Either way, I like the way it turned out, kind of has a fisheye look to it.

Flooded room at Carrie Furnace

I found this to be one of the more interesting rooms at Carrie Furnace purely for the staircase you can see at the back of the shot. I didn't venture over to it as there was some green liquid dripping near by that I wasn't too keen on getting my camera, but you can see the the entire lower level is flooded to much that the water is actually coming up the staircase. If you look closely (or in full size on my blog) you can actually see the water dropping from the ledge! Not to mention all the graffiti that's everywhere too!

Another shot from the empty warehouse at Carrie Furnace. If you were to walk to the top of the stops just to the left of the Steeler sign in my last shot you'd be where I was when I took this shot. It was kind of eerie to stand here, knowing that standing here 30 years ago would give a view of a busy factory and now...nothing.

Back to the inside of Carrie Furnace on my photowalk with Wiz. This was one of the main warehouses remaining at the site and had a list of safety instructions accompanied by a huge Steelers sign. Now, while I'm not a fan of the Steelers, it still was pretty cool.

So over the next week I’ll be posting a few candids that I’ve taken over the last couple months. I still will be posting HDRs as well, but I’ve been inspired lately to try to shoot some different styles and try my hand at other things!

Today’s shot is an HDR from my early Saturday morning photowalk a few weeks ago. Like I’ve said before, I have had some trouble with the past in with the moon and HDRs, and you can see that here, as the moon is pretty blown out. I did like the scene though, with the warm glow from the restaurant lights and the motion blur form the tree branches, as it was really windy that day, so I thought I would go ahead and process it!
