This is a view from Dormillouse village in the French Alps. The village is made up of only a few very old buildings with permanent residents as well as a café for tourists. There are no roads leading to the village, only two small footpaths. The path in the photo is the old and longer route. I imagine horses would once carry supplies up to the houses on this footpath. The entire and valley was very peaceful and quiet - only the faint sound of waterfalls.

This photo was taken in Briançon which is supposed to be the highest (large) town in Europe! 2,540m (8330ft) at its highest point. This part of the town was very old and had large fortified walls surrounding it.
I noticed a cat and approached it slowly. It retreated behind these doors. So I lent down to take a couple pictures, until it hissed loudly at me! I decided it was time to leave at this point.
I may come back to this photo to re-edit/upload at some point.

Radiohead - Street Spirit (Fade Out)

This was originally taken for a photography project at college, although my teacher didn't seem to like it very much. However I thought I would share it here anyway!
I set up my tripod by the beach and experimented a bit. This was the outcome.

Le Rocher Blanc

Well, it's not exactly Le Rocher Blanc. This photo was taken just next to it about 200m lower at about 2370m. The larger path here is for walkers and vehicles and the smaller path that zig-zags across the slope is for mountain bikes. (I'll upload a picture of that soon).
The building in the top right is the Serre Chevalier cable car station that leads back down to Briancon.

Shepherds' Hut

This is an old shepherds hut and behind it is Glacier Blanc. Hidden behind the hut in this photo is Refuge du Glacier Blanc (2,542 m), but we aimed to pass that an go onto the glacier itself.
The hut is no longer used for its original purpose and now has a metal, barred gate across the doorway. Inside are the large bunk beds and some information about the hut are visible.

This photo was taken in the same location as this one which I posted a while back. I've back-tracked a bit here, but I recently found this photo and decided to edit it a bit. Before, it was dull and not worth uploading but I think the 'improvments' I made are okay. I added the mountains in the background and several other smaller changes. I'd like to think my Photoshop skills are improving!

Todays date marks the day I first created my Flickr account four years ago. Horray!

This photo was taken on the route towards Glacier Blanc. We had already visited it a few days before but went again on this day to climb higher since our breathing had adjusted to the rapid change in altitude. On the path below (to the left of the girl, in the distance) there were many people on their way up but it seems we were one of the earliest groups.

I should point out that despite adding this image to the map and telling you the location, I have edited it quite a lot. The view was amazing - but the photo was not great. So some of the mountains you are seeing here do not all exist in the same place. I hope you like it none the less.

The view at the top after completing a Via Ferrata. We climbing up the - mostly vertical - mountain edge for about 200 feet using a harness. I was glad to see this view as I reached the top!

Alpine Insect Laying Eggs

I heard a sound of an insect and followed it to this one, that appears to be some sort of locust. It only and one jumping leg and was laying eggs into the ground, which is why it didn't jump away and how I managed to get so close.
I reccomend viewing it larger to see all it's details up close!

This photo was taken on Tête de la Draye in France, very close to the campsite were we were staying. It is 2077 metres above sea level. Beautiful, but hot day to be mountain climbing.

Les Gorges de l'Oignin
After staying at a campsite near Stonehenge, we drove to Dover and then arrived in France 2 hours later. Above is a photo in the third campsite we stayed at called Les Gorges de l'Oignin. The reflections were perfect and almost like looking through a mirror. The only ripples came from a family fishing, just out of frame.

My fourth photo to appear on the Explore pages!
