Troops of the 1st Brigade row to the beach and empty boats return from the shore to the destroyers at about 9.45 a.m., on the morning of the Australians landing at Anzac Cove. Those landed in the morning first rushed the small outstanding plateau, afterwards called Plugge’s Plateau and then went over the skyline into Shrapnel Valley.

Australian artillerymen dragging guns into position after the landing at Anzac. By 6 p.m. on the first evening one gun had been placed on the neck above the southern end of Ari Burnu beach, and next day more guns were dragged over this neck into positions to the right.

The position covering Quinn's Post and the Chessboard on the Gallipoli Peninsula occupied by the 7th Battalion Machine Gun section, which was operating apart from the 7th Infantry Battalion, the latter being somewhere to the right. Facing the camera is Private Ridgway, later Lieutenant Ridgway, 15th Brigade. The photograph was taken about 1500 hours.

Gallipoli, Turkey. 25 April 1915. The first field dressing station of the 7th Battalion, AIF. It was a natural hole in Monash Gully and many early wounded were treated there. The man on the right is Corporal R. Bates who later became the Reverend R. Bates of Brisbane. The other two men were original stretcher bearers the 7th Battalion.
