taken while driving on the highway with my new (24-1000) lens of the bridge camera Nikon coolpix P510. the stabilisation system is quite good, the castle being approximatively a km far if not more.

French painter Jacques Majorelle opened it to the public in 1947, restored by Yves Saint Laurent the fashion french designer. We visit just a part of it, the other part is still inhabited by P Berger. It is extremely well kept and with beautiful & huge succulent plants.Over 300 species today of Bougainvillea cypress bamboo jasmine water lily, cactus, yucca....
this particular blue is called now the majorelle 's blue. These flashy colors are gorgeous here with the bright light there is here

A seven years building 1986-1993, designed by the french architect Michel Pinseau and realized by the french building company Bouygues. 10 000 moroccan craftmen for the decoration and 25 000 workers for the building itself. It has a 200m minaret, and is half built over the sea ( a special room for the king only, has a glass floor where he can kneel over the sea).It has an heating floor, can withsand earthquakes
A huge 33 tons electric opening main door (only on special occasions). the same for the beautiful cedar automate sliding ceiling opening to the sky on special occasions only
A very impressive mosque both inside and outside. Zellligs (10 000 square meters), marble, granite, cedar, fountains (124), ablution room, hamam, profusion of hight-quality materials. Some 50 huge chandeliers
A huge beautiful mosque modern but the very skilled moroccan craftmen who worked on it turned it into something quite timeless to me. A bit like the Taj Mahal.
It is a miracle to still find this quiality of work nowadays, not much difference with the beautiful decorated mosquees of the 14th or 12th century of Fez or Meknes
Money was raised by the State & by donations from the moroccan people. According to our guide its cost was between 1 or 2 billions dollars but nobody really knows except may be the king himself
Anyway the result is fabulous and well worth the money. That is one of the few mosque too we can enter in as non muslims, all others are forbidden

The city was protected by walls of a total length of 25 Km. A bit of a megalomaniac like Louis XIV for that matter
This dynasty still rules over Morocco with king Mohammed VI who seems to be very appreciated by his subjects. Our next stop was at the Merzouga dunes. i loved the dromadary ride we had in the Sahara and found a beautiful music & video to put with my slideshow. It made me think of the smooth swinging pace of the animal : Sahara essence, a black horse instead of a dromadary

Back from our trip in Italy fo see Orta lake, Lugano and Como the one i liked the most, The three are Glacial lakes and are always spectacular seen from some height.
A Place i would like to live in. The view is breathtaking, a small Geneva lake to my point of view. A link for more info

Taken from the top floor of the villa, the gardens are beautiful with flowers and very well trimmed with lot of exotic plants and trees, not very much to sse inside the villa apart from some marble sculptures. Not enough room for more, Here is a link for a panoramic view ot the villa

these villas are not really beautiful according to me but the gardens are
The villa Balbianello was closed ??? no explanations although it was supposed to be opened, italian people are very nice but quite unreliable. We'll go next year for in Varenna the villa Monastero seems to be worth seeing too

One of the famous white peacock struting in the beautiful italian gardens, a ten terraces garden forming a truncated ppyramid with statues oblelisks balustrades. the amphitheatre is a 3 level construction with niches reliefs and with a belvedere crowning it at 37m from the lake surface and for more infos

Lac majeur amphithéatre de pierre calcaire, coquillages et galets (et surtout les statues pour moi) en forme de pyramide tronquée.
It is a ten terraces garden imitating the hanging gardens of Babylon On the flower pots, the grids, you can see the 3 rings, which is another emblem of this family, symbol of their alliance with 2 other rich families the Sforza & the Visconti. In mathematics the borromean rings (coming from this sympbol on their coat of arms) are set in such a way, you let loose one and the other two fall apart
This family from central Italy came here in the 14th century in exile and made their wealth through real estate & equity interests in banks of central North Italy
Ironically their motto humilitas (on their coat of arms too) meaning Humility is drawn with flowers on a lawn too, but this display of power & wealth with this beautiful garden does not speak much of humility. A link if you want to know more about this family

The Unicorn being the emblem of the borromeo. installed on a rocky crag it was necessary to bring earth so there is a lot of work behind this beautiful garden with a mild climate.
I never saw lemons as big as here, at leat 4 times the size fo mine if not more for some, the same with the hibiscus flowers

This lake is much more crowded than the Como lake we visited last year, and i prefered the Como lake although this garden is worth seeing (second time for me) i would never go there in summer

The island is supposed to have the shape of an imaginary ship, the main palace the bow deck and the raised terrrace, the bridge, but seen from above it has only a vague shape of a vessel
The palace neither ugly nor beautiful is a four storey palace of Lombard Baroque architecture and apart from the flemish tapestries (16th) of silk & gold with unicorns (emblem of the family) the usual things of this time. You cannot visit first the gardens & then the palace, you must pass through the palace to reach the gardens.a problem when your see rain coming & would have preferred the other way round

A restored ryad as you can see many of these kind thoughout Morocco in the cities like Marrakech, Fez, Tangier, Tetouan, Meknes. From outside nothing special, only sometimes a beautiful door. but they all have this patio inside or courtyard with a fountain (not seen here) in the middle for the coollness specially during the summer. Mystical dream a arabic music i like with a beautiful animal, here is the link, no real bearing with Morocco except the music, but just for the beauty

Aigle meaning Eagle
Not much to see inside, a viticultural museum and some pieces of furniture but the castle is really beautiful particularly when you can see the mountains behind which is not the case on my shot since it was raining.
We often go to Switzerland since we have a son leaving not far from this castle but never had time to stopped but this year we made it at long last. And for a flavor of the Middle Ages a nice clip with a song in latin & invented language
