This range of mountains starting at Store Blåmann in the northeast to Skamtind in the east are "popularly" named the Zapffe range after P.W. Zapffe. A native Tromsonian and philosopher, he was also an avid mountain climber who first ascended these mountains. Myth tells that he also ascended the church tower down town.

Covered by clouds is the 1230(?) meters high Møysalen peak. Also seen is the top of the Sortland Church.
