Highly recommended - I get in there a couple of afternoons every week just for the freshly baked scones! They are probably the best I've tasted! Glazed top and sides for crunch, lovely texture inside. Delicious - and a good size!!!

I am usually fanatical about a clear bright eye on my bird/animal photos but against the light that's not possible without using the flash. I usually use this when photographing birds but here it would have lit the rest of the bird destroying the backlit effect. So this is true to life!

Scottish Deer Centre, near Cupar, Fife, Scotland.

Tonight the plate holding my camera to the tripod worked loose unnoticed by me and the camera fell off landing lens first on to paving stones. It is clearly damaged well beyond repair so it will be an insurance claim on Monday! Fortunately, as a retired insurance broker I am very risk conscious so it is insured against accidental loss or damage anywhere. I am likely to be cameraless for some time until the claim is sorted out !!

First photo with the new Leica V-Lux 2 which replaced the smashed V-Lux 1.

Some grit was put on the road yesterday for the first time and a few people dug their way off their drives hence the tyre tracks. There has been little snow since but the freezing temperatures mean that it is now frozen solid again. This is the highest point of the town and it's a steep hill which the photo doesn't wholly illustrate. There is no through traffic here - the road terminates in woodland so it has low priority when it comes to road clearance.

I am so sick of looking out of the windows at snow that I thought I'd post one with some sun and colour! Where we live is high up and on a pretty steep hill. The road ends at woodlands so it is not a through road or on any bus route. It is therefore not a priority for the council to clear the snow and we and the neighbours are trapped at home. I have not seen so much snow for many years.

Fourth and last of a series of exhibition Dahlias photographed at the Fife Flower Show, Dobbies Garden Centre, Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland.
My insurers paid out for the smashed camera and the replacement, a Leica V-Lux 2, arrived today. Will try it out shortly. The remains of the V-Lux 1 are in the bin!
