&lt;p&gt;Extensively regenerated from the late 90s onwards. The Marquess had a particularly fearsome reputation, but then so many of Islington's estates did - Andover, Six Acres, Elthorne, Market - more than other inner London boroughs. Or maybe not. Maybe because the stories of what happened there were told through friends, then the local media (then sometimes national), closer personal ties, over-the-fence, just *there* on the other side of Finsbury Park, but not quite here, it all seemed worse. Parts of Brent invoke similar emotions for me.&lt;br /&gt;
