"Seahorse: The Next Generation"

skippys1229 posted a photo:

"Seahorse: The Next Generation" was a special horse commissioned for the 10th anniversary of Ocala/Marion County's "Horse Fever" series. This was one of four horses that were not originally on display from September 2011 to March 2012. Rather, it made its debut at an event called "Farewell to the Herd" in mid-March 2012 before going to auction two weeks later with all the other horse statues.

Why is it a special horse? Well, it is one of three horses donated to three area schools to design and paint (the fourth was a design voted upon by the public and then raffled off, rather than auctioned). It was worked upon by students at Madison Street Academy for Visual and Performing Arts.. Money raised from the auction for this horse and the other school horses will go towards supplies and art programs at area public schools. Madison Street was fortunate enough to have its Parent Teacher Organization raise enough money to win the auction and have it return to the school for the enjoyment of future classes.

I think they could have done a little better job trimming the grass around its base -- and I tried to physically remove some of the taller grass as best I could.

(Some adjustments to contrast, shadows, highlights, etc., and some levels adjustments -- HSS!)

Well, it is one of three horses donated to three area schools to design and paint (the fourth was a design voted upon by the public and then raffled off, rather than auctioned). It was worked upon by Marlene Jacobowitz, Sally Lyle, and the students of Hillcrest School.
