Carol and I attended the 16th Annual Fraser Valley Bald Eagle Festival this weekend. We took a jet boat tour up the Harrison River with Fraser River Safari. Biologist David Hancock was on board to educate us about the eagles. I got a chance to stand on the bow of the boat and photograph hundreds of Bald Eagles feeding on the dead salmon.

The Gasthaus on the Lake, Pub and Restaurant uses their outdoor pub garden to create this beautiful Christmas Market. All of the treasures inside are imported from Germany. This little market always brings such a warm Christmas feel to our little town of Peachland. The market usually doesn't open until December 1, but this year they have opened three weeks early.

Kids These Days!

The hummingbirds are starting to establish spots where they like to sit and relax and a have a good view of the feeders. The bush in the front yard that blooms beautiful pink flowers seems to be a favourite for many of them. The branches are small and they can hide among the blossoms. This morning I noticed that one of the females has claimed a spot on top of the feeders. I have some single feeders and the thin hooks make a perfect perch.

I like capturing shots like these. It shows how tiny they really are next to the blossoms and small pinecones. The little Calliopes are the smallest North American bird measuring in at a mere 2.75 - 3.25 inches. The Rufous are a little bit bigger at 3.5 - 4 inches.

I found the Immature Bald Eagle in the same tree as yesterday. He/she has found a perfect fishing spot and perch.
