Scarlet Gilia Basking in Alpine Glory

I found one small rocky area along Tioga Pass Road that was densely covered with Scarlet Gilia, but didn't see them anywhere else. A vibrant red touched with pinkish orange tones, it was a stunning display.

Waiting for the Aster Bunny...

These alpine asters were rather prolific in the high meadows and alone the roadsides over Tioga Pass, Rock Creek and the Bishop Creek drainages. I liked this one because of the way the buds were dancing around the open bloom.
