&lt;p&gt;I found one small rocky area along Tioga Pass Road that was densely covered with Scarlet Gilia, but didn't see them anywhere else.  A vibrant red touched with pinkish orange tones, it was a stunning display.&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;p&gt;These alpine asters were rather prolific in the high meadows and alone the roadsides over Tioga Pass, Rock Creek and the Bishop Creek drainages.  I liked this one because of the way the buds were dancing around the open bloom.&lt;br /&gt;
