Morning Erupts

One of my all time favorite spots to photograph in the Tetons....every day offers something a little bit different than the day before, and each season offers a different perspective. This one was shot last May, as all the spring colors were emerging, and on this particular morning, the clouds were just hanging over Mt. Moran, giving it an appearance of erupting. Getting up early definitely has its advantages at times :-)

Busy week, so I will catch up with everyone as I can. Have a great Wednesday, and many thanks for all your views and comments!!!!

Gateway to Zion

Every time we entered Zion, Mike commented about how much he liked the park sign, so as we were leaving the park on our last morning, I asked him to pull over as we exited the park so I could capture the sign with the early morning light just starting to light up the peaks. Have to admit, it does have a certain allure :-) Wishing everyone a great weekend; we will be away for a few days, so I will try to catch up as I can. Dawn at Moraine Lake from a slightly different perspective....the large rock pile in the background is where most photographers go to catch the first rays of light hitting the Valley of the Ten Peaks....we hiked up there in the dark, waited for a spectacular sunrise that never emerged, and then decided to wander around the shoreline to see what other treasures we could find....definitely can't go wrong at this amazing location. One from this morning's outing to the Missouri Botanical Garden....rather overcast, but it was beautiful nonetheless....and if you get there early, it's like having the place all to yourself. Another of many images we took during our early morning visit to Moraine Lake...this was just before sunrise. The best views are definitely from atop the rock pile, but be sure to get there early and take a flashlight because it's a bit spooky hiking it in the dark :-) Have a great Tuesday, and as always, thanks for stopping by to visit!!!!

In 1882, guided by a Stoney Indian, Tom Wilson became the first white man to discover what native Indians called " Lake of Little Fishes ". He named his discovery Emerald Lake, but it was later changed by the Geographic Board to Lake Louise in honor of Princess Louise Caroline Alberta, fourth daughter of Queen Victoria. The magnificent Lake Louise is overshadowed by the Victoria glacier which is deceptively further away than you would imagine. (source: rockymountainholidays.com/lake-louise-information.html )

Early Riser

Sunrise along the Trans Canada Highway just east of Banff National Park....hard to resist pulling over for something like this :-) In fact, we had no intention or plans of going anywhere for sunrise, but you know that gut feeling you get sometimes; well, it happened to me on this particular morning. We were driving along, and I saw a hint of color in the sky. I told Mike we needed to find a spot to pull over if we could, and to our luck, there was a small picnic area not far ahead. I jumped out with all my gear, headed straight for the gate, threw caution to the wind (because that fence provides a nice barrier from all the critters lurking on the other side), popped the latch, set up the tripod, and Voila...talk about a glorious sunrise :-) Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend....thanks for all your visits & comments!!!!

Try pronouncing that....sounded intriguing when I looked up some synonyms for tranquil, and upon looking up the definition of "paradisiacal" (of, relating to, or resembling paradise), I decided it pretty well summed up our quiet, calm, peaceful morning at Moraine Lake.
