He had been welcomed into their lives now for more than sixty years. His identity was ever changing, as were the methods he employed to captivate and awe. When he first started he was fixed and stationary, but now thanks to progress he was mobile. People would risk walking out in front of a bus to stay connected to him, heads eternally tilted southward awaiting some new spectacle that would automatically become the blotch of color that filled their grey trivial day. Over time it became difficult to distiguish between the two boxed up worlds; and those people that could were promptly dispatched, and usually became the topic of a spectacle.

The phantom shackles started to tighten; most didn't even notice. They wanted more!

Springtime arrived and outside the wind was blowing through the tree's newly sprouted foliage, making it possible for them to communicate after the long silent winter. The birds were speaking too, using their many different colorful melodies to convey messages of necessity . Unfortunately no one was listening--the white noise deafened.

I wonder if they sell a chocolate Jesus anywhere, like maybe down at Wal-Mart or something? A recent Harvard study shows that chocolate helps to lift your spirits - you can be sure they didn't convey that information from the report in a manner that mentions spirit.

I hadn't planned on walking through that part of town, and I sure as hell hadn't planned on seeing Deb anywhere near that place either. It had only been a couple of weeks since our break-up and I never in a million years thought she'd be out with that blonde chick Tracy from work. Tracy always hung out at the Man Cave, and that's exactly where I saw the two of them on that lonely rainy night in March. I hope Deb had so much freakin' fun that night with her new friend, and I hope she met some new stud that she really connected with. Who knows, maybe she found some guy, took him home and they connected all night long. Wouldn't doubt it, that's what everybody goes there for, right? That's what I had gone there for. Alright, so you caught me, I had actually planned on being there--only one way to forget, you know? Maybe I should of gone in. Maybe Deb would of seen me in a new light from behind those new red glasses. She looked great in those glasses. I'm such a coward!

There I stood facing the tree, with my camera pointing skyward to to get a shot of it's branches bursting out amongst the clouds, when out of the corner of my eye I caught a glimps of this curious little guy. He put on a real show, running from one side of the tree to the other, almost like he was playing peek-a-boo with me. I'm glad I had my trusty 100mm macro. This was the sharpest photo of the bunch.

Sandy and Ted took a vacation to get away from the same old same old. Sandy had hoped it would help to bring them closer, as Ted had grown very distant over the past couple of weeks. She often caught him staring out the window with this blank gaze, and when she asked him what he was thinking about, Ted would routinely reply that he was just wandering. Anyways, Ted's wandering had continued into their vacation, and this frustrated Sandy a great deal. Ted didn't seem to show any interest in the newness of their surroundings, or in Sandy for that matter, so Sandy thought she would get out and do some exploring around town without him. When she returned to the hotel room later that day she found Ted kneeling naked at the window, hands reached out and pressed against the glass. There was a flutter of wings that seemed to erupt from inside of the hotel room, and as Sandy looked on she saw a blackbird fly off into the distance. Her eyes followed the bird as it became a black dot that suddenly disappear over the horizon. When she brought her eyes back to Ted she found him glaring at her with a huge grin, and from this grin came the words, "I'm back."
