When setting up this shot, I was initially drawn to the sunrise light hitting the face of Clements Mountain but it wasn't until I saw the orange light reflecting in the flowing water that I really got excited. Thanks for looking!

...or more accurately warm and cool. This was such a great payoff for getting up early and waiting for what seemed like forever for the sun to rise. I've never seen the light hit mountain peaks like this before and I love the hard line between the warm glow of the sun and the cool remains of twilight. Thanks for looking!

One of the countless little waterfalls in the Logan Pass area of Glacier National Park. You can really see how windy it was up here by the movement of the clouds, this was only a 5 second exposure and there is noticeable cloud blur. Thanks for looking!

After shooting the standard wide angle compositions of these small unnamed waterfalls in Glacier National Park, I mounted the 70-200 and experimented with some telephoto compositions. I thought this one worked well enough to post today. Thanks for looking!

Happy Waterfal Wednesday!

In Glacier National Park, there is a valley near Logan Pass where all of the melting snow and ice runs down the mountains and converges at this amazing spot. I've been calling it Triple Falls but as far as I'm aware, it doesn't have an actual name. This is one of those photo ops where it's pretty hard to screw up, just set up the tripod and let the water do it's thing. The most difficult part of shooting at this location was finding it! Thanks for looking.

Taken on a chilly September morning in Glacier National Park, USA. If you can get to this area early enough, you can often catch the early morning sunlight hitting the face of Reynolds Mountain. Not a lot of options for composition with these falls since you're pretty much confined to a small viewing platform. I slapped on an ND filter to give a little blur but that's about as creative as I could get. Thanks for looking!

I took this way back in July 2009 when I was only about 4 months into photography. What I found with the Grand Canyon is that it's easy to take a "good" photo but not so easy to take a "great" photo, especially when you're rushing through it trying to catch the bus back to Las Vegas. I found it difficult to find any really compelling foreground. The gnarled tree here is one of the better spots I found. I'm still pretty happy with this shot but I decided to apply some newer processing techniques to it. Thanks for looking!

Grand Teton National Park

The light was horrendous when I set up to shoot these falls. Fortunately, I found this little spot where there was some shade and the light wasn’t quite as harsh. I went with the long exposure here not so much to blur the water but for the cool patterns that the bubbles were making. In this shot, they came out as white streaks in kind of a whirlpool pattern.

Just downstream from Firehole Falls I came upon this group of rocks. I thought they formed a pretty decent leading line into the scene so I set up my tripod in the water, found a nice large rock to sit on and fired off a few frames.

I’m renewing my pro account today so to commemorate one year of Flickring, I went back into the archives and found this shot that I took last October. I posted this a year ago but was never completely happy with the results. After employing some new processing techniques that I’ve learned since then, I can now say that I’m satisfied with it. What really makes this shot for me are the deadfalls in the water. This was my first time using a polarizer, and I remember being amazed at how it cut through the water reflections so easily. Kepler Cascades is a waterfall on the Firehole River in southwestern Yellowstone National Park in the United States. The cascades are located approximately 2.5 miles south of Old Faithful. The cascades drop approximately 150 feet over multiple drops. The longest drop is 50 feet. The cascades are located very near to and visible from the Old Faithful to West Thumb road. ~ Wiki
