I was planning to sleep in the morning I shot this but fortunately I changed my mind. This sunrise provided easily the best shooting of all the mornings I dragged my tired butt out of bed.

Part of the fire and drum show at Secrets Maroma Beach Resort. I'm definitely enjoying the Image Stabilization on the new Canon 70-200 2.8 II, this was taken at 200mm with an exposure of 0.4 seconds. Thanks for looking!

Looks much better Viewed Large On Black

I decided it was time to post another one of my wet Main Street shots. I've been sitting on these until I was able to get my monitor issues sorted out. I have finally calibrated all of my monitors and can post confidently knowing that what I see is correct.

This shot was a bit of a processing nightmare but I kept fiddling with until I got it right. I'm actually really happy with the way this turned out, especially since it was taken while holding my jacket over my camera-tripod setup to shield them from the rain.

The Fountain of Nations is a musical fountain at Epcot in the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. It was designed by Mark Fuller and his team from WET. The fountain contains about 200,000 gallons of water, has about 300 nozzles and can shoot water between 30 and 150 PSI to over 150 feet high.

Until recently, this was my favorite shot of the Fountain of Nations. Now, however, I think I prefer this current version. I like the sky and the individual droplets of water that are visible as opposed the the long exposure blur of the older photo.

3 shot HDR from a single RAW file combined in Photomatix with levels adjusted in CS3. Canon EOS 40D with 10-22 lens & polarizer @ 11mm: 1/320 sec @ f/5.6 ISO 100.

I've been extremely lazy with my processing lately and as a result I'm being forced to post some of my pix that I consider second class. Because of this I'm uploading two today...quantity over quality I guess.

For this shot, I actually set up my tripod right in the TTA car and fired away. I would be happier with this if it had more color variation in it and I actually meant to ride it again but never got around to it.

Mexican Sunrise

I recently returned from a week at Secrets Maroma Beach Resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico. I managed to get out for the sunrise most of the mornings I was there. This shot is one of my first attempts and also the first time I got to use my new filter kit in the real world. This is a single shot, exposed for the foreground with a filter to tame the bright sky.

It took me ages to figure out how to process this shot but I finally settled on what you see above. This is a 3 shot HDR combined and tweaked in Photomatix, then given a little Topaz adjust for some extra detail. This was one of the rare times that while I was shooting a couple people actually stopped and waited for me to finish my shot before walking right in front of me, thanks whoever you are!
