This cat has adopted us. It showed up on at our house and has insisted that we care for it. It spends most of its time in our yard, and we have started to feed it. Today I gave it a flea collar. Occasionally we let it inside to cool down or warm up.
Wonder why it chose us? We don't know the sex, so we usually refer to it as "Baby Cat".
HAND, COFFEE, MONEY
Olympus OM-1 / Zuiko 50mm f1.8 / Kodak Ektar 100 //

I have no idea where the pink tones in this came from. I'm sharing it just because I want to post something, and I liked the pink. Oh, and the coffee at Play is probably the best coffee on earth, though I don't want to start any arguments!

I'll be away in Ottawa from Friday to Wednesday, but I'll check in with your albums when I can.

I also need help, because I want to get a new camera for when I'm traveling that is a little simpler and easier to use than the cameras I have now. I want to be able to catalogue things I see quicker, and I don't want too many technical things to get in the way. Any suggestions? I've been looking at the Fuji Klasse S or the Fuji GA645, but any other ideas are welcomed! I just don't like carrying around a big, clunky camera and light meter, and I want my OM-1 to be for macro work. //

I've tried to think less about exposure lately. I try to keep myself from saying "oh, there's not enough light for this." Ektar, and the possibilites for manipulating it, really fascinates me. I have not experimented beyond push-processing, but everyone I have seen do that has had tremendously successful results. I also like people who underexpose it, or overexpose it, or whatever else they think of.

I honestly think "art" is what you can get away with. It is not about right or wrong, or about following rules. It is about saying what you want to say, even if people think it's not "correct". My Flickr friends have really been teaching me that lesson lately, and I love seeing your unique work. I see deep shades of evening where details are almost imperceptible, or mystic blue layers making me mistake noon for midnight, or bright, energetic flares screaming sunshine. I think they are all so fascinating and wonderful! Art is only genuine when you have followed your own instincts about how to create the image you want to create.

I finally made it back to Zilker Gardens after a long time away. I waited until the weather was a little cool, which was very short-lived. Tomorrow might be nice, so maybe I'll head back there. I don't think I had ever shot these leaves before. It is amazing that after the number of times I've been there that there are still things I haven't photographed. There are always things to be discovered in even the most familiar places! I was just watching a program about raccoons last night, and the scientist said that they are such successful creatures in part because they always imagine a reward at the end of every challenge. That has become my new life philosophy!
We made it home from our trip to Quebec and Ottawa. I did not take many photos there, since the weather wasn't great, and I just also don't really feel like photography when I travel to a new place. I like to really be in a place for a long time, or visit a place often, and then I feel like I can finally find the unique things and unexplored corners there.

I did see an amazing art show of Van Gogh's "up-close" paintings, and a series of Japanese prints that inspired him. I never knew how much peace he found in the tiny details of nature. Maybe instead of stressing about the things I feel I can't photograph well, maybe I should just concentrate on the things I enjoy discovering in nature?
