I loved this tree when I saw it. I could've used a whole roll of film photographing it. Spring is the time of taking a lot of photos, isn't it?

Don't think, just snap! Sharing photos in this community is great. We have nothing to prove, no clients to please, no money to make, no rules to obey. You can share anything and everything. I sometimes hesitate to share things I don't think of as "good art", but those photos are also something I saw and enjoyed, so why not share it even if the photo isn't perfect? There were plum blossoms everywhere in Austin last week. I had never noticed so many of them, and it was a welcome site even if our Winter was mild.

Today was 28C, and I am not looking forward to hotter weather. It was nice to see these blossoms and imagine living in a more temperature place!

Sometimes we don't remember that when we're planting flowers to attract butterflies, we also need give them plants to lay their eggs on, and plants for their larvae to feed on. That is the purpose of this plant found in the Zilker butterfly garden.

I think Spiderwort flowers are so beautiful with their delicate, hairy centers. And I love how the new flowers cascade out from underneath the ones already opened.

Yes, we are one seed among millions, one human among billions. But just like this one dandelion seed, we have all the potential of life within us to create a million more seeds, and then each one of those will create a million more.

Think of all we do in our life. Think of every choice like a seed. When we do anything we are making other things happen all around the world. We are touching the lives of people we will never meet. We are making lives possible for children we will never raise ourselves.

I do not believe in a higher power above the life I see around me on this world. But I do believe in living responsibly so we can make the best choices we can. And just by living and acting, we make ourselves undying because the seeds we sow in our lives will go on making more and more lives possible forever.

Just think of your own life. If some distant ancestor in the ancient past had never existed, you would not be here today.

My name, "La Branĉaro" means "the branches" in Esperanto. I chose it because I think we are all branches. We are alive because we are living by the support of other branches, and we support branches beyond us in return. We are a part of life that cannot be replaced or destroyed. Beyond that, I do not believe in an afterlife. But what more does there need to be if just by living we have made other lives possible?

I have so much empathy for people who suffer and feel alone, because I feel that way at times, too. But we are never really alone. No matter how simple you think your life is, you are making an impact. There are countless people like you in the world. Your life has more meaning, more worth, more value than you or I can ever comprehend.

SPARKLING WHITE

Hyde Park is a place of old houses, pretty fences, and sparkling flowers. That is how it is in my memory. It is flat, easy to walk, lined with tall trees of endless variety, and always quiet.

I know pushing the Ektar made the detail of the flower petals vanish, but this makes this flower seem even more real to me. This is the sparkle of the flower, the emotion in it for me seeing it in the wonderful afternoon light in Hyde Park.

Bulbs are starting to burst into flower here. Our Winter was mild and short, but that doesn't make the arrival of new flowers any less powerful.

The varieties of the narcissus flowers have always been some of my favorites. They seem wonderful and old-fashioned, don't they?

I have just sent my two OM-1's to the lab to be cleaned and resealed. Somehow I have to survive a whole week without them.

Another study of leaf structure, which I am always looking for in the garden.

Amazing how effecient the structures of nature are, isn't it? They slowly evolved the best, most prosperous way to move materials within the organism. Our own bodies are like that, and yet our social organism is not.

Cypress trees are one of the great native trees of Texas. In fact, they are one of the most common. The prehistoric garden at Zilker is filled with them, and they are just starting to leaf again after a short Winter! Their bright green is so joyous and exciting.

I was really surprised to find this little collection of moss on this piece of granite in the middle of the garden. I honestly didn't think we had very much moss in our hot climate. But on the shady side of this structure, there are actually tiny clumps of it clinging to life.

There is something so fascinating in their simple existence.

This is a very low plant that grows close to the ground. I had not noticed its spores until recently. I peered under the leaves and found them.

I also like the shape of the leaf cells. Do you see them? So simple and elegant. It could almost be translated into a fabric print.

After a few damp days and warm temperatures, there were flowers sprouting everywhere in the grassy patches of Hyde Park. I love how quiet it is in this neighborhood. It feels timeless even though it is in the city.

When I was little, I remember my mother installing two doors on our house, both with little stained-glass windows in them of tulips.

Tulips have never lost that spiritual aura for me. Maybe more than any other flowers they seem like living paintings. Do you find them special?

We were walking in one of the old neighborhoods in Austin recently, and I could not resist these old-fashioned flowers with the big white veranda behind them.

Hyde Park was the first planned neighborhood suburb of Austin. One of its early residents was the famous sculptress Elizabeth Ney. Many of the houses are in the Craftsman Style, some are more Southern, some are indescribable.

These are magnolia leaves that were hanging over my head when we were walking around Hyde Park. I love the brown spots for some reason. It was a nice color combination with the green and blue.

Do you know those sparkles of flashing light that often appear in Art Deco motifs (like the opening of the film "Metropolis")? That is what these iris leaves reminded me of. They are like shimmering bursts of green light from the earth. They are so glamorous and powerful and classic.

This little short montage of "Metropolis" has a few minor flashes: Metropolis Theme.

I wish so much I could create photography in the style of that film. I feel like I need a challenge to stimulate my mind because I am too concentrated on nature.

Anyone want to purpose a challenge???

This is a broccoli in flower. Did you know that green thing you eat is actually the flower-head of the plant? The name comes from Italian which means "flowering head of the cabbage". I think they are so lovely just as a plant!
