The Royal and Pontifical University of Santo Tomas (UST), is considered to be the premier Catholic University of the Philippines and the oldest existing university in Asia. In Spanish, it is referred to A La Real y Pontificia Universidad de Santo Tomas de Aquino Universidad Católica de Filipinas. King Charles III of Spain bestowed the title “Royal” on 1785; “Pontifical” by Pope Leo XIII on 1902 through his constitution, Quae Mari Sinico and Pope Pius XII designated “Appellative "The Catholic University of the Philippines" on 1947.

It is also the largest Catholic university in the world in a single campus based on student enrollment. It was established through the efforts of Bishop Miguel de Benavides, the third Archbishop of Manila. Upon Benavides’ death in July 1605, the bishop bestowed P1,500 and his personal library for the setting up of a “Seminary-College” intended for the preparation of young men for the priesthood. The funds and the personal library became the core of UST and its library.

It was on 28 April 1611, when the Colegio de Nuestra Señora del Santísimo Rosario was established from Benavides’ library. The institution was late renamed Colegio de Santo Tomas. On 20 November 1645, it was promoted to a university by Pope Innocent X.

I just attended Photo World Asia 2011 which was held from January 27 to February 1, 2011 at the Glorietta Activity Center for the Trade Show, and at the Asian Institute of Management in Makati for the Educational Convention.

Guest Speakers include Master Portraitist Hanson Fong, Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom Expert Julieanne Kost of the United States, Canadian Travel Photographer Stuart Dee and Triston Yeo of Singapore.

The Distinguished Filipino Speakers include Dr. Vicente Pido, Kris Fabi Carlos (Amorsoloesque), Emil Davocol and Paul Yan with a slideshow of inspirational images, Rudy Fontanilla (Portraiture), John Chua (Advocacy Photography) and Niccolo Cosme (Fashion Photography). A battleship is a large armored warship with a main battery consisting of heavy caliber guns. Battleships were larger, better armed and armored than cruisers and destroyers. As the largest armed ships in a fleet, battleships were used to attain command of the sea and represented the apex of a nation's naval power from the 19th century up until World War II. With the rise of air power and guided missiles, large guns were no longer deemed necessary to establish naval superiority, and as a result there are no battleships in active service today. The Making

I have been post-processing HDR images for quite some time, but for the record, this is so far the most dangerous and most complicated processing I have ever done.

Done it with 5 Bracketed Exposures (-2, -1, 0, +1, +2) EV still with the standard ISO 100, and tonemapped using Photomatix Pro, the model and scene however wasnt that stable due to the strong wind, so I ended up suffering and treating major ghosting on almost everything, plus the fact that me and my model were on hostile territory, a part of our City where so-called Little Columbian-Cartel Wannabes used to live and dwell, you know what I mean, and some of them were really staring and intrigued. This was created before I left for a 2 Week Summer End Vacation at Davao, Bukidnon, Cagayan De Oro, Iligan, and Ozamiz City.

I got this long exposure shot minutes after a sorely bad weather where I happened to shoot my 6 year old daughter's Grade 1 Teacher's On Location Prenuptial Shoot who got me as their Official Wedding Photographer on their wedding next year, June 18, 2011.

I was kinda sad because I soaked my dear tripod (Manfrotto 055XPROB Tripod) on the salty water plus my camera under the flickering rain. Good thing the end result was very rewarding. BTW Go Manny Pacquaio. Filipino Pride Baby.

Fast Fact

I am now experiencing the most painful and excruciating pain in my entire life, my ever dearest Mother is sick again, and I cant dare manage to look at her that way. If only I can share the bitterness inside her. As my title goes, there will never be sweet music on a guitar if the strings arent tuned up well.

I thank everyone for sharing their prayers for her during her operation, but now again, im asking everyone to spare one for her, please. I love her so much and I cant imagine life without a mother. Please kindly pray for her fast recuperation. Godspeed.

Fast Fact

Before leaving the City, I hurriedly cleaned our vehicle's front glass to catch some good long exposures at night while we are on the highway, but suddenly a selfish heavy rain suddenly poured, thus spoiling all my effort and the said scene. Least I got a consolation out of it, an abstract light effect for you guys to wit.

On the other hand, the dumbest thingy I have ever done is deleting this upload last week, Friday June 11, 2010, just to give way for this Explore Front Page Display and later to find out on Big Huge Labs that this deleted photograph has reached Explore Highest Position No. 120. Stupidity?

Fast Fact

Our first day road trip was a twister, we had an enormous slow head start, approaching a long stretch of bad weather along the Province of Bukidnon, good thing we were welcomed by a sweet cloudy weather upon entering the City's grand territory.

By the way, Im doing an HDR series from my recent road trip and summer end vacation last month, besides I sorely missed processing and uploading my HDRs.
