happy bokeh wednesday HBW from the Botanic Gardens, Wellington

Happy Bokeh Wednesday :)

Wellington is the capital of NZ and amazingly clean for a big city. We stayed right in the centre and took a 1-2 hour walk in the early evening to the Botanic gardens which had amazing views over the city and harbour. This photo was taken towards the end of the day as the sun was setting.

I have no idea what kind of flower it is? :(

a snow capped romance

This was one of those photos I wasn't keen on when I took it, but once viewed on my pc liked more and more. It was taken back home again from my parents back garden, the snow capped hills in the background surround the town.

This will be my last photo for a while... I fly to New Zealand for a 3 week break tomorrow night! We have our road trip route planned out & my camera bag is packed, (with 19 gig of memory!). Expect lots of landscape shots when I return :)

in search of solid ground

I took this photo while back at my parent’s house, from the front room window.

I lived there for 22 years; looking out of the window at least once a day (I am not great at maths but I am pretty sure that’s a few thousand times). I have no idea why it took nearly 10,000 days to decide that it might make a good photo... but here it is.

I guess I have learnt that you don't need to look for photo opportunities as there’s normally one in front of your eyes.

This photo will always make me feel like I am at home, which is an awesome feeling.

I had a go at some custom bokeh last night with some interesting results! Here two of the simple shapes we made a heart and a xmas tree. I'll will be adding some more interesting ones after the weekend =]

Really good fun and well worth a night in.

All you need is a fast lens (Canon 50mm prime works great), duct tape, a knife, fairy lights, card and your good =]

meet moss the dog & his red ball

i met moss on a farm my friend works on, my friend had previously told me moss was a bit of a legend and that i had to meet him.

So i went down one summers evening and he really is the most amazing dog, full of life and energy but at the same time really gentle and funny. He has this red ball that he cannot be without and for the 4 hours i was with him all he wanted was for me to throw it for him to fetch. We had a BBQ and most dogs would be after some scraps or the odd sausage but not moss he just kept looking at us, slowly nudging this ball nearer and nearer to us, until we threw it again for him. Arrghh i wanted to take him home so bad! lol

Well that's moss anyway, his love for the ball gave me chance to get some cool photos =]

Was actually spring sun but was hot and felt like summer. Really like this photo has a nice yellow happy glow to it.
