Shot with a tripod, using a Sigma 10-20mm and ND8 Neutral density graduated filter.

HDR processed as a single RAW in Photomatix Pro 3.1 for the rocks, sky processed in PS and the two marged together in Photoshop CS3.

First light over the Simonsberg mountains, Franschhoek, South Africa. A magnificent morning before the sun rose over the mountain tops to illuminate the clouds and mountains in the distance, at about 6:40am :-) Without the sun everything was a calming ligt blue colour.

Sunrise in South Africa. I almost missed this one as I drove back down the mountain and it was only that I was stuck behind a logging truck going very slowly down the winding roads that looked to my right. This is what I saw.

I jumped out of the car, grabbed the tripod, filters, spirit level, camera and all sorts of other stupid stuff and ran over the road. By the time I had fitted the filter I thought f**k the rest of this stuff let's just get some shots off before the sun goes away (way too much technology) :-) hence this one is hand held but at least I didn't miss it :-)

Sitting on the edge of another world at 5:11am waiting for life to begin. It slowly emerged before my eyes, a stunning and peaceful existence that makes you aware of what our tiny planet has to offer and why we are alive.

Shot with a tripod and ND6 grad filter. Processed in Photoshop CS3 as a RAW file (not HDR) Additional selective curves and colour balance adjusted in layers.

I hope there are not too many Monday blues out there today! :-)

More from South Africa. Mossel Bay to be exact, at the end of the Garden Route. We arrived here at about 4pm and it didn;t take to long to scout out what seemed to be a good position for a sunset "session". I spent a good 40 minutes moving around and getting new angles of these green and slippery rocks. I got a "booty" more than once (oh that is an old slang term for a boot full or water) :-) cause in this case by slipping on the green stuff ;-)

Shot with a tripod, 3 exposures +2, 0, -2 combinded in Photomatix Pro 3.1. Actually becuase of the sun I had to process the three images twice and then merge the resulting two HDRs in Photoshop. After I did all that, 1.5 hours later, I saved it small for Flickr without keeping the original doh! Oh well back to the drawing board. :-)

The views were magnificent.

Happy Monday Blues... (and greens) :-)) This guy is trying VEERRRRRRYY hard. :-)

It's very hard to get the exposure right with white stuff... I set +1.65 on the exposure compensation (quite high) and it still wasn't quite enough... Photoshop to the rescue for the other 0.75 ;-)

On Saturday I fly to South Africa and Safari !!! My first time... you can't believe the quandary about which lenses to take :-) I think I need them all :-))) The backpack already weighs in at 5kg without chargers or tripod !!!!! And I have just hired a 1.4x teleconverter to take... I may came back crippled from the weight :-))

Reaching out to the horizon

It might be gorgeous green Thursday but I’m giving you some gorgeous green some gorgeous blue and some gorgeous orange ;-) This week’s shots have come from all over the place, my garden in London, Kirstenbosch, Cape Town, South Africa and this one from Brighton on the south coast of England and today I’m off to Dresden, Germany for four days.

Oh and a fact about this picture, this structure, Palace Pier, was first built in 1891. I hope you like it. ;-)

P.S. I was aiming for a "super-real" shot to include the detail under the brige and the sky. ;-)

The late afternoon sun shining through a willow tree in the vineyards of Boschendal, Franschoek, South Africa. A wonderfully peaceful place that also makes a beautiful bottle of Sauvignon Blanc !! :-) A fabulous place, in a fabulous area, in a great part of the world that I will always remember as incredibly green and relaxing. I hope to go back one day.

Is it gorgeous green Thursday already I hear you ask? :-)) No just Bokeh Wednesday, I nearly waited to post this one tomorrow but for tomorrow I have another great South African landscape for you! So green green bokeh it is :-)

A shot from yesterday lunch time... I went out with a specific intention of capturing some blossom, it's not easy especially when there are so many great ones all over Flickr at the moment.

To me this one looks like one of those splash shots when something is dropped into milk :-)) (Hence the title)

Still trying to catchup with everyone's streams from yesterday, bear with me, I'm getting there :-)) How do you all find the time to Shoot, Process and Flickr at the same time :-))) LOL
