Sunwapta Lake at sunrise, the lake is below the Athabasca glacier , the glacier is not visible in the photo, it's outside the left side of the frame. From October 2010.

Blitzkrieg Rainstorm

Incoming rainstorm over Barrier Lake in the Canadian Rockies, a few minutes prior more mountains were visible beyond the V shaped valley at left, they disappeared, and so did everything seen here within 30 minutes. The storm cleared up at sunset the same day.

Saskatchewan glacier seen from Parker Ridge, Canadian Rockies. The trail up there is short (45 minutes up), but it was very muddy in early October.

Peyto Lake Panorama

One of the most photographed locations in the Rockies, Peyto Lake, seen from a slightly different viewpoint above the standard bus stop wooden platform, it takes only 15 minutes walk to get there, and the view is much better. Stitch of 3 portrait format images. The platform itself is always full of bus tour groups,and trees somewhat get in the way of the view. When I took this photo, the platform resembled downtown Shanghai, with 3 buses unloaded at once, people were fumbling over each other to snap the best i-phone memory, yet a few minutes up the trail, there was absolutely no one at this viewpoint.

Photo taken from the top of a moraine rock ridge, the view from the meadows is crap, you only see Angel glacier with the trees blocking the view of the lake.

Mount Edith Cavell is a mountain located in the Athabasca River and Astoria River valleys of Jasper National Park, Canada. The mountain was named in 1916 for Edith Cavell, an English nurse executed by the Germans during World War I for having helped allied soldiers escape from occupied Belgium to the Netherlands, in violation of military law.

A close up view of the north face of Mt. Edith Cavell is visible after a short hike to Cavell Meadows. The trailhead is by the parking lot at the end of Mt. Edith Cavell road. The trail to the meadows is 3.8 kilometres (2.4 mi) one way, rising 370 metres (1,214 ft) to 2,135 metres (7,005 ft).

The hanging Angel Glacier is visible from Cavell Meadows, which spills over a 300 metres (984 ft) cliff on the north face.

Grain elevators dot the flat prairie as lighthouses do the seashore. Nanton, Alberta, Canada. In this case, the paint colour of choice seemed to be "decomposed pistachio" (at left), and "Golden Gate Bridge orange" at right, the latter makes a better contrast.
