Tim has a shop at the Skidmore Market next to Portland's Saturday Market, selling imported good and glass smoking stuff (hand blown in Oregon). I found him in the upstairs of his shop and we started talking about my Yashica Mat TLR. This is number 40 in my second round of the 100 Strangers project (#140 overall). Alessandra was at Portland's Saturday Market with the band, Boka Marimba, which was setting up to play. She was handling the sales of their CD's and such. I was attracted to her great hat, she was very stylish for a Saturday in Portland, This is number 39 in my second round of the 100 Strangers project (#139 overall). Louie was at Portland's Saturday Market last weekend. He does a cowboy comedy act, but at this moment was waiting around for some evangelists to finish up and vacate the performing space.

Juan was at Portland's Saturday Market last weekend. I was drawn by his beard and the bkie chain around his chest. I generaly prefer color, but I converted this to B&W because I think, in this case, the image looks better.

Becky was a course worker at the Sports Car Club of America event at Portland Int'l Raceway last weekend. She is so involved in racing that when she married a couple years ago, her wedding was held at the racetrack. This is number 35 in my second round of the 100 Strangers project (#135 overall). Joe was at Portland International Raceway with his Fiat 600 for a Sports Car Club of America event. There were a ton of Mazda MX-5's and then there were a handful of other cars like Joe's that stood out from the crowd. I'd explain what he's doing but I have no idea. Joe is from Eugene (2 hrs south of Portland) and owns an auto restoration business. He put his car back together and got it out on the track.

Dale was at the Portland International Raceway Auto Swap Meet. He had lots of auto related stuff - signs, toys and ephemera. The swap meet ran from Thursday through Saturday, and this year has had lots of rain. Dale says that business has been OK and he's covered his costs, but was still hoping to make a profit for the weekend.

Monique was selling here crafts at Portland's Saturday Market - accessories woven from bicycle innertubes such as arm bands and bracelets. She even had a cowboy hat in progress made from innertube. Wayne openned his barbershop in the St. Johns neighborhood of North Portland in 1946
and has been at it ever since. Luckily, I caught him between customers on Saturday morning, my more common experience is to hem and haw for a while until I lose my opportunity. Its an old school barbershop in an old school (but transitioning) neighborhood and Wayne told me that every once in a while someone comes in and asks to take photos.
