Between Croydon and Normanton in far inland north Queensland, there are these flat plains of old soils with countless numbers of termite mounds. These are the ones that eat straw and old grass generally. Temperature was around 42 C at this time and the colours are very stark and bright. The mounds change colour according to the soil. Scattered thinly on these plains are a resistant gum trees (eucalypt family) that stand out with their white bark and bright green leaves. You can get wonderful contrasts.
