Photographed Aldís at night when it was snowing, ambient light only. That boat´s name in the backround is "Venus", wich I thought was interesting considering that Aldís posed as Venus for the Gods series found here.

That evening there was a very good aurora borealis forecast, so I set out for the south coast of Iceland, but it started snowing rather heavily so I turned back about half an hour out of town. I instead went out with Aldís because the snow was very beautiful that evening, big chuncks of snow and very little wind, perfect for a shoot for my "after dark" series. Ambient light only.

Taken the same night as the other borealis photos I have posted recently. I am not sure what that house was but it was close to the parking lot at Seltún, from here it looks like a house, but honestly I think it was an outhouse :)

Borealis over Jökulsárlón

Took this a while ago, february 2009 on a trip I took with Cory. I don´t often go all the way to Jökulsárlón, especially in the winter as it´s about a 5 hour drive from Reykjavík but I have been there a couple of times at night and never before or since seen aurora borealis, either because they didn´t show or that it was cloudy.

Got drafted for a team shooting for challenges over at an Icelandic site, www.ljosmyndakeppni.is

The first theme was landscapes, wich I enjoyed since I haven´t been very active in that department for the last 3 years or so. This waterfall is about 70-80 minutes away from Reykjavík so when I was finished shooting a wedding halfway there I drove up to take some shots just after the sun set that day. Taken with a polarizer, that´s why the sky is a bit uneven in the middle of the shot.

This is Liisa and Antti from Finland on their wedding day last month. They are sitting on a sculpture that is located downtown Reykjavík called "Sólfarið", wich directly translates to "The sun vessel", it´s shaped like an old viking ship. Ambient light + profoto monolight with a disc reflector.

Week 18: Kolla

This is Kolbrún María Ingadóttir, 23 years old and lives in Akranes. Only used ambient lighting for this shot, as you can see by the shadow the sun was setting to my left and gave this lovely brown/reddish hue to the whole scene.

We drove around to three places and this spot came out the best, this is on the northern shore of Hvalfjörður. After taking this picture we liked the idea of her wearing slippers and hippie clothes so much that we are going to do a seasonal series and take a summer, autum and winter version with her wearing the same clothes but in different places of Hvalfjörður.

Here is the next shot in the series, autumn.

This is best wiewed in "All Sizes"

This photo was taken for my final assignment in school, the theme was "Abandoned" so I let that be the title. This is Birkir who maybe some of you recognize from other photos, bottle in his hand is "Íslenskt Brennivín, loosely translated to "Icelandic Firewater". Only used ambient lighting for this shot.

This is actually four photos blended together. I don´t think I have ever spent as much time in photoshop as with this image, about 7 hours but I learned heaps and don´t regret a minute, it would probably only take me 1 hour to re-edit. Think the longest record before this was about an hour and a half or something like that, I really hate spending time editing photos and much rather want to spend the little time I have taking them instead.

Even though it´s four photos, it´s really only one of the interior, one for the outside view (wich is the actual view, just was so much brigther outside I had to take a separate photo for it and blend together) and two photos of dirt I only used to add texture to the skeleton wich was squeaky clean in reality. Spent most of the time on the window and figuring out how to add texture to the skeleton. Other than that, mixed the colors to a more acidic look, up with contrast, some dodge/burn and sharpened after resizing.

The shot is intended to be printed out in 80x60cm so I thought it out like that and in that size you can make out his expression better and read the text on the bottle, it doesn´t work as well in web resolution but I really like this shot.

Was traveling on the south coast of Iceland a couple of weeks ago and took this shot of a rock on the shore by Vík. That´s Reynisdrangar in the backround. It was pretty windy that day, the surf was very strong and I took a couple of "normal" landscape shots of it, but this shot just appealed a lot more to me.
