Crashing waves

Another shot of the waves on the southwest coast of Iceland, now in 'colour'. The air was full of salt sea spray, to the extent that the world looked like it was black and white. The almost black rocks looked grey. The black spots are birds, not lens dust. Also, check out the dirty water to the left being pulled up by the waves. This storm was a very powerful experience.

I used a layer mask with an equalized version of this photo to bring out the details. Other than that, just minor corrections. No cropping.

Taken from a dhow, a traditional sailing boat, on Zanzibar. We were going out towards the reef on the east side of the island to do some snorkeling. I talked to one of the local fisherman and found out that a fully equipped dhow costs about 300,000 shillings ($240).

A local fisherman in the Jambiani village on the east coast of Zanzibar. He took us out on his dhow to do some snorkelling near the coral reef near the coast. On a more technical note, I don't understand the vertical "bands" in the picture; they might be due to the polarising filter I used..?

This is a statue of the god of trade (and many other things); Mercury. It is on the top of a building in the town centre of Bergen, framed by an unusually bright sky. It's been an absolutely rotten winter so far.

Who says you need a rainbow to see colours? Very strong light here, I was glad to have a polarising filter.
