24/05/2013; It won't be to everyone's taste, but the title of this song (which, as always, doesn't particularly suit everyone's hearing) does fit well with this shot. Even though I don't really understand why the singer walks into the water with her bride's dress at the end of the videoclip. Hence why I didn't walk into the water while I was there either... O-)

24/05/2013; The sign is warning traffic participants to only drive 30 kilometers per hour (about 20 miles per hour) because of playing kids and crossing animals.

I guess I'd have come to back during daytime to see those kids and animals then, as it was so quiet over here that you could hear a feather drop.

*EDIT* Hhmm... now that I have actually uploaded this, I only see that this watermark is quite a bit too present in this capture. Sorry about that...

06/04/2013; On April 6th and 7th, a week before the grand opening of the Rijksmuseum, there was the Museumweekend 2013. A fine opportunity to check out the Scheepvaartmuseum.

02/04/2013; I was bound to get early at my dentist, so I just walked around the IJplein a bit when I stumbled upon this bird, plucking his way on the grass. He wasn't really shy, as he sticked around for a while before he took a plunge in the water behind me (in this point of view).

31/03/2013; As I came back out of London with the flu, I was homebound for about a week.

I was starting to feel human again on Saturday the 30th, but I was really feeling well again on Sunday the 31st of March. Therefore, it was time to go outside, because I have seen pretty much every inch of my bed and four walls of my bedroom at least thrice that week.

So I went out cycling, and I thought it would be funny to go back to the soft verge. If only so I could find out what the area looks like, as it was pitch dark when I cycled there the first time.

17/03/2013; I heard the Eye film museum would be lit up in green for St. Patrick's Day. So on Saturday night, the 16th, I went out...but unfortunately without pictures, because Eye was only going to be lit up on Friday the 15th of March and Sunday the 17th of March.

Seriously wondering about the logic of the Irish Tourist Agency in lighting the place up on Friday and Sunday eve, but not on prime time Saturday night, I went home a tad annoyed. But ofcourse, I couldn't resist the temptation, so I went again the day after. Only to find out the green lights still weren't burning while they were supposed to.

Because I've gotten the feeling this was all one big practical joke, I went into the Eye to ask the receptionist whether the green lights were still going to happen. And that's when he said that they were supposed to go on automatically, which clearly didn't happen. But they were fixing it, and the receptionist expected the party would get started any minute.

I took the ferry to the city centre side of the river IJ, and while I walked on the Fast Flying Ferry pier, the green lights went on. Finally. :)

15/03/2013; If you're following me a bit longer, you know I like me a fair share of traffic in my photos. But when traffic is letting you down for a change, and there's no street light in sight, you need to be a bit more creative, for example by creating the light by yourself.

So with the help of the pocket torch on my phone, I lit up this sign. And luckily the moon and a plane were willing to cooperate to make the sky a tad more interesting.

17/02/2013; When I was shooting at the church of Holysloot, this cat came walking by. She was clearly used to people, as she came straight to you when you called her. And once she was at your side, it took some effort to get her away from you again. XD

Not that I was complaining ofcourse, she was a great model because of her loyalty. And she reminded me of how I would lie down whenever I would be at the beach (although I would obviously be wearing shorts at least). :P

17/02/2013; It was sunny and not that cold, great conditions to go cycling a bit. Hence why I decided to cycle from my place in Amsterdam-North to Holysloot and back, which is a tour of roughly 25km (16 miles). And I clearly wasn't the only one that felt like treating his bike on some sunshine. :)

02/04/2013; Already made a similar shot with my Lomo Fisheye camera when I went to the dentist around the same time last year, but I felt like having one made with my D-SLR as well. Et voila... :)

However, it wasn't until I was home checking out the photos that I have taken that the guy in this shot is wearing what seems to be an ankle band. So looking in retrospect, I'm glad he didn't attack me or anything. XD

15/03/2013; We were treated on another fairly bright evening, 2 weeks ago, and it has been a while since I did some light writing. So I cycled to a spot of which I knew hardly anyone gets there (apart from the occasional runner or cyclist), and I wrote down the 2 first words that came to mind while I was exploring the area.

17/02/2013; After I reached Holysloot and I did some shooting there, it was time to go home again after a while. The wind was coming out of the north, so when I cycled from Ransdorp to Zunderdorp, I experienced more headwind than I would like to.

When I finally cycled into Zunderdorp, I felt like taking a small break to get back to breath. While I did so, I might as well play a little with the sheep, right? :)

11/07/2012; Before I'm going back to the nocturnal shots again, here's one from the archives, which (finally) is starting to empty out a bit. Really missing these sunny skies with sheepy clouds around this time of the year, when Mother Nature usually isn't on her best behaviour regarding the weather.
