While in Vancouver, we were lucky enough to spend a night on Vancouver Island. After a peaceful night of sleep, I was awoke in the morning by what sounded like a pack of dogs barking in the distance. I unhappily arose and went to the window to express my displeasure with the noise only to find this amazing view, that the dogs were in fact sea lions and that what was previously annoyance at being awake was now a supreme sense of gratitude.

I could hear this dog barking at me from a distance. As i approached, i whistled in attempt to lure it from its isolated yard. He slowly came toward me and I lowered my hand for him to sniff, a sign that I meant no harm. But just as I thought he was warming up to me, he took a step back and raised his lip to reveal a collection of sharp teeth that looked perfect for biting naive tourists. Then I took this picture and ran.
