It was a freezing cold grey day when I visited the Christmas Market at Schonbrunn Palace. The gardens were desolate apart from a few ducks who frustrated my efforts at taking this image.

Many thanks to every one who voted for 'Vienna - Now or Never' as detailed in my previous post. Amazingly, I won the competition and will have an expenses paid trip to Vienna next month!

This image was taken on my last trip to Vienna in 2009 and shows the Gloriette at Schonbrunn Palace.

The waterfall in Bad Gastein falls a total of 341m in 3 stages. It lies in the centre of the once famous spa town, which came to prominance in the19th century.

Towards the Hundstein

At 2117m the Hundstein is the highest peak in the Salzburg Alps.

A refuge, the Statzehaus, was built on the top of the peak in1897 and is a very welcome 'watering hole' after the long slog up from Thumersbach. My route continued along the ridge to the Schonweiskopf and finally the Schalbenwald before descending to Zell am See.

Took a short walk this evening up behind the apartment I'm currently staying to take this picture.

Used a Poloriser filter, processed in B&W and then added a texture over the top to bring some colour in.

This is the image I'm using for this year's Christmas card. I'm using Moo.com to print them.

Image was taken last February on a snowy day. The whole week was a white out which made the planned skiing virtually impossible.
