Here is my last photo of my series on Toronto summer series 2010. I have plenty more that I didn't share with everyone, but I'm just getting a little bored and want to move on to something else...

This is my 3rd upload from this location at the marina (Bathurst Quay Marina) so everyone should be quite familiar with it. This is what it looks like during a crisp and clear blue hour.

This photo was taken at 9:55pm on July 10th, 2010.

This is my last ditch effort to make this building look good, how did I do? Yes we can thank the ducks and the morning light too....

Another shot from my summer series of 2010 in Toronto.

This, if you've been following my series, is of course the Canadian Malting Company in the morning glow of the sunrise on the harbour front in downtown Toronto, taken from the Bathurst Street West Marina, the same marina as the previous too, see my maps for all the exact location if you want to see these views in person.

I took this shot before the previous one I posted on July 11, 2010 at 6:33 AM, this previous shot was at 6:59am.

Don't really know why I did that, but anyways...

It's hard to make this Heritage Site look good in Toronto

SEE it BIGGGGGER FOR CRAZY FULL FRAME DETAILS!!!

From the same marina as in my previous photo this is looking west on July 11th, 2010 at 6:59am.

Looking west towards the Canada Malting Silos. The silos were built in 1928 to store malt for the Canada Malting Company. It was an important work of industrial architecture at the time and Toronto has dedicated it a Heritage Site for the city of Toronto. There are many ideas for the site, from turning it into a museum or theme park, but the city is also looking in to making it a municipal history museum.

Whatever they turn it into it's still not the pretties thing to photograph, so what better to fill the scene around it but beautiful boats on a sunny morning in the Bathurst Quay Marina.

I hope you enjoy this one, although the building isn't the prettiest it was fun to photograph it and the marina. You know me and marina's can't get enough of them. There's a lot going on in this photo, but I like it and think it works.

Lake Front Property in Toronto

Did you see it LARGE?
IT'S A MUST SEE LARGE in FULL FRAME!!!

The morning continues on my summer 2010 series on Toronto, Ontario.

After dawn broke and I captured these moments I got back in my Civic and headed down to the waterfront to capture some morning light on Bathurst Quay East Marina. I was trying to find a decent composition, with the Empire Sandy sitting docked in front of the CN Tower and the Toronto Skyline.

This photo was taken at 6:51 am on July 11, 2010.

The sun was coming up in the right of the frame here, so it quite difficult to expose this scene, but the light that was hitting the buildings and the boats was just too good to pass up.

No HDR or digital blending here, just one shot with a 1.2 HiTech Graduated Neutral Density Filter and some playful morning light.

Hey friends!! How was everyone's weekend?

HAPPY MONDAY BLUES!!!

With Tobermory and The Bruce Peninsula in the rear view and the two waterfalls out of the way it's time to get away from the landscape and get back to the city, the city of Toronto, the capital of Ontario and the largest city in Canada.

As sonething everyone should already know about me, I love architecture and what better architecture to photograph than the stunning Toronto skyline. With boats too!!! and... new camera gear!!! I had a blast shooting full frame with this scene with my D700. It's Spadina Quay Marina on Lake Ontario in downtown.

I already posted this scene from during the day and I promised to show you a night shot, well here is the blue hour.

Back when I was living in Toronto, I only really thought to shoot here about a month before I left town to head to Bordeaux. One of the reason I thought of this place was wanting to get a scene similar to some Daniel Cheong stuff from Dubai, his stuff is in a class of his own and he is one of the best photographers I follow, but it was nice to try and see what I could do with a similar scene. So of course this made me excited to go back and shoot here one day especially with new gear, luckily I only live 3 hours from TO now.

I love boats, I love the blue hour, and a brilliant skyline, put it all together and you get this!!! The only way this could get better for me, is if I could see some seaweed in the water or some rocks to add some more depth.

The Nikkor 16-35mm and the D700 really killed the clarity here, found the sweet spot at 21mm and it is tack sharp, you can see in people condos, unfortunately nothing sexy to report, haha.

The Toronto skyline is really getting nice from this viewpoint, with all the condos going up around the Don Valley, this shot would look different if I had taken it when I lived there, a few years ago.

Sorry I have been M.I.A. for a week or so, been working 7-3pm and spending nights with the wifey. This week might be much of the same, sorry. I will try to get to your streams though. SEE it BIGGGGER!!! for all the details....

This is a photograph I took of the Spadina Quay Marina or Marina Quay West, facing the glorious Toronto syline. I spent 4 days in Toronto this past summer, visiting a bunch of spots I missed while I lived there and this time with better equipment to photograph it! A Nikon D700 + 16-35mm!

This is straight from the camera shot at 19mm a sweet spot, I used a Hi-Tech 1.2 GND filter to bring out the seaweed in the water to add some depth. A little over exposed on some of the boats, but I like it this way. The amount of detail in this shot is stunning. The 16-35 is a fun lens, I love it!! Wait till you see what I've shot with my "Big Stopper"!!!!

Those boaters were just coming back from a day on Lake Ontario and the light was just perfect for this shot. The light was coming across the scene right at the buildings and the tree tops, no HDR or processing at all on this even though it might look like it on the trees, that is just great light filtering through some clouds, oddly enough, in the back of me.

Where the hell has Nathan been, right? It's been 4 months, is he still alive?

Well, I'm still around… still alive and kicking, now with better camera equipment and a beautiful wife!!

I have been around here lurking, checking my contacts photos every couple of days and seeing all your fantastic shots. I am sorry I have missed so much and have not commented on your streams. I have been really busy the last few months it's insane. I have been planning a wedding, attending my wedding/honeymoon…and starting a new marketing position at my work and getting a ton of stuff thrown in my direction. So most of my time goes to my new wife and work.

Our wedding day was just perfect, we had the most incredible Saturday of the summer for weather and the whole day went great. I will tell you more once the photographs get done from our photographer and I can post a few! =)

So I am probably not officially back on flickr I really just need to start posting some shots, I've had a busy summer and have lots to post. I got married to a perfect and beautiful woman and I spent a great summer travelling including a one week honeymoon in St. Lucia, which was one of our best trips to date.

I am sorry if I don't have much time to comment on your stream, for a little while yet anyways.

Guess Who's Back... To Prague

Well... well, how has everyone's summer been going? Mine has been a busy one, sorry I haven't been around much. :[

Now let's get this back on track...

As I continue to bring you on a tour of Czech Republic here's another view of the beautiful Prague skyline looking towards the East on the historic Vltava River. This is the same night I captured this photograph here. This view is a little further South on the riverfront.

The third building from the left is the Lažanský Palace built in French Renaissance style. Since 1946 it's been the site of the Film and TV School of The Academy of Performing Arts in Prague or FAMU. It's one of the oldest film schools in all of Europe. Right next to it is the National Theatre which was built in 1844.

The bridge to the right is called The Bridge of Legions or Most Legií. The bridge consists of 9 arcs, its length is 350 m and width is 16,4 m. On both sides are 2 towers, former toll houses.

++ We're now settled and moved into our new townhome in Chatham. After some good times and some trying times in the last month it's time to start our lives here. We really enjoy Chatham and have even bought ourselves a brand new 2009 Honda Civic EX-L. So let the good times roll. I hope to get back to flickr on a regular basis in the next little while. It is the summer though, so I like to take advantage ++

The weekend is upon us, so what better time to be on the water, soaking up the rays and these breathtaking views. So I ask everyone to choose your Praha Ship there's enough seats for all of you to be on the water in the city of Prague, Czech Republic.

The is a view I captured along the Vltava River, facing the memorable Prague Castle Complex and the towering St. Vitus' Church. You can see a little of the historic Charles Bridge on the left and the Petrin Observation Tower just above. This tower strongly resembles the Eiffel Tower from Paris.

I hope you enjoy your boat ride and put on your sunscreen it's gonna be a hot one!

Goodbye Hallstatt

So long Hallstatt. We only had a few hours to explore the city, but we feel in love and think it's a magical place and one of the most breathtaking locations that we visited on our travels.

Although the skies were overcast most day. As we were waiting for our last ferry out of the village the sun started to peek out from the clouds and it was casting a brilliant light on the surrounding mountains and the beautiful See.

You know what this means, I'm running to capture one if not the best shot of the city skyline, a postcard shot of Hallstatt. I think this turned out well, considering I only had a few minutes to set up the tripod and snap off some shots before I missed the ferry. You can actually see it docked there, haha. Good thing I was able to scout the best location earlier in the day.

I hope the light at the end of the bend makes up for that house being covered in ugly grey material, haha. Man I was pissed when I saw that sailing in. : |

This is another photograph I took from the "See" as we sailed into Hallstatt.

Everyone really enjoyed the last See View so I thought I'd throw this one in as a little bonus as I will still be posting my final shot of Hallstatt on Monday.

This is somewhat of a sorry as well to all my flickr buddies. I've been missing in action on here in the last couple of days, but I promise I will be checking out your streams and catching up in the next couple of days. =)

Come Czech Out These Views Over Hallstatt

As we got closer to the peak of the mountains above Hallstatt the view, of course, got even more breathtaking. Laurie and I had a blast learning about the history of the Salt Mines and Hallstatt on placards all throughout the climb up, and me, I loved taking photos. Once we got to the top the views over the beautiful UNESCO Region of Dachstein were to die for. As you can see in the comments.

This photo was taken standing on a long metal scenic viewing point in the upper valley right beside the Rudolfsturm Tower, built in 1282 as a defense for the mine workings. The viewpoint is 838 meters above sea level, I'm looking away from Hallstatt in this view. This is the path that would take you to the Salt mines and to an ancient burial ground. No room in the city for many cemetery's so the deceased are taken to the sky.

We're turning around though and seeing the breathtaking views along the See and above Hallstatt. Czech out the photos in the comments.

Since some of these shots aren't the "best quality" I thought I'd post a small series. Unfortunately, I didn't really have the lens/tripod or talent to take pictures up in the mountains so these are what you get, haha. I could have used some 18-200mm Nikkor glass. Oh well these will have to do.

My favourite part about these scenes is when looking at it I can almost breath in the fresh air that I experienced that day. And I really like the boat coming around the shoreline and coming up to the castle on the first one. To see the pictures in the comments a bit large go here, here and here.

I hope everyone enjoys the views, we're almost ready to say goodbye to Hallstatt and move on to the next city in Austria before moving on to...........

A Night Out With Our Lady

Just a hop, skip and a jump away from this impressive view is my next scene from the fairy tale city of Bruges.

This is a view from the North East, of The Church of Our Lady. Thank God for wide angle lenses because this beautiful churches tower is 122.3 meters (401 feet) and is the second largest brick tower in the world, second to the Chrysler Building in NY. It's the tallest structure in Bruges and you can see it from just about anywhere.

Inside the church there's a lovely marble statue of the Madonna and Child created by Michelangelo around 1504.

We're staying in Bruges.

Here's a wider view of my previous photograph here.

The water was so calm through the canals that morning, it was breathtaking. Much different from when the city wakes up, as this is one of the busiest sections of town, the Rozenhoedkaai. It was quite difficult to expose this photo, but I think it turned out alright.

Let's head back to Italy.

Welcome to Portovenere Italy. Which is in the northern most part of the Cinque Terre Region on the East coast of Italy in the province of La Spezia. This was one of our favourite areas in all of Italy. Know wonder it was named a UNESCO World Heritage site. Each town is similar to this, colourful, right on the beautiful Mediterranean and full of character & history.

Far øff Islands

This is a photograph of the wonderful little harbour in Tórshavn the capital city of the
Faroe Islands. The name of the city means "Thor's Harbour" named after the god of thunder in Norse mythology. The city was founded in the 10th century and might very well be the oldest city in Northern Europe.

We spent 3 full days in the Faroe Islands on our way back from Iceland on the ferry towards Scotland. The Faroe Islands are an island group consisting of eighteen islands off the coast of Northern Europe, between the Norwegian Sea and the north Atlantic Ocean, about halfway between Iceland and Norway. The climate is windy, cloudy and with over 260 rainy days throughout the year. It wasn't much different while we we there, but when the rained did stop and the clouds cleared the light shinned down on one of the most interesting and beautiful countries we visited while oversees for 15 months.

I took this photograph at a Marina in Marin County Just across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco. Such a beautiful little city.

Welcome to the Cote d'Azur one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in the world, where millions flock to every year to lay on the stunning beaches and swim in the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean or to watch movie stars and be thrust into the glitz and glam of the French Riviera. We visited the coast in April last year and had a wonderful time.

This is a town called Villefranche-sur-Mer, it has lots of charm and tons of colour and a beach out of a dream and yes it's been photographed millions of times, but here's my take on it! Enjoy!

Every Cloud Has A Silver Lining

Welcome to Caernarfon Castle, one of the coolest looking castles in the U.K. Just look at this location! Construction started on the castle in the late 13th century under the rule of King Edward I.

We visited the castle in July on our first summer trek through Europe. It was raining most of the day. Actually, it rained quite often during this month, as it was one of the worst summers on record for rainfall! Sucks, but we still enjoyed our time and I think it gives this photograph a great atmosphere.

When we arrived at the castle I was a little disappointed that the water in the harbour wasn't higher, but there wasn't much I could do about that!

This is the second photo of my new series called Goodbye Toronto.

It was taken nearly a year ago at:

7:33 PM on May 03, 2007 near the Toronto Harbour

This was the one of the nights I said goodbye to one of the greatest cities in the world and left Canada to embarked on a journey trough Europe and beyond for a 'Year in france' ©

I've written all about it in my daily blogs and have a great ( Made on a Mac) website ha ha (link in my profile), which has tons of photographs that I add to weekly from my thousands of shots I've taken through my time exploring Europe.
