Some people can't visit a cemetery in the daylight let alone on a cold night with a full moon, so I'm pretty sure this qualifies under the ODC "Fear" banner. <br /> <br /> I took a few shots at home first (plan B's I call them) with the moon rising over what can only be described as a spooky looking dead tree and headed off to "the.dead.center.of.town" <br /> ROFL! had to be said.<br /> <br /> The <s>cemetery was quiet</s> duh! it's 8pm...pitch black...and I doubt very much a band is about to march on through Mike, you IDIOT Flickr freak! So anyways, I set up the tripod in a likely spot and clicked away completely undisturbed. I actually started talking to Emily Jane (RIP) and had only the briefest flashes of Jason "the walking hockey mask" Voorhees and his trusty super-sized "compensating much?" machete circling up from the rear. <br /> <br /> To be honest I didn't really think about where I was too much. Hardly surprising as I was busy wrestling with my new flash, running to the car to switch the headlights on to help with focus issues and working out the best positions so the flash flare didn't bugger up the shot entirely. After the 2nd shot...out came the snoot (I love that word!). The rest they say...is history. The clouds were a nice eerie touch I thought and if you look close there are a few faces watching over me. I even found a face in the trees as I was scanning for dead *cough* pixels. On the drive up, I could see the mist and cloud resting between the mountains. So off I walked...and...walked....and walked...through the gum trees. I estimated I had 15mins to get to a good location, 5mins to take a whole bunch of photos and 15mins back. That would get me back in time to see the first bounce and the start of the game. <br /> Solid plan, right? <br /> It would seem so, yet 20 mins of walking later (complete with 10kg camera bag) I was still looking up at never ending gum trees and constantly referring to my GPS, cursing myself under my breath with no mist, no cloud and heaps of frustration! Oh....and I'd walked downhill for pretty much all of it so the return trip was allllllllllllllllll UP HILL! I decided to press on and take a shortcut which was a straight line back to the main road, according to the GPS. The rest of the "expedition" consisted of climbing over fences, trekking through mud and shimmying (is that a word) under locked gates (don't ask). Apparently I found my way into the National Rhododendron Gardens and in between gasps of air (it was all uphill, remember?) I managed to snap a quick shot of a pine tree and looking across the valley so my little trip wasn't an utter waste of time. It was very bright so it was either this or an extremely overexposed sky. At this point, I didn't really care. My schedule was shot and I just wanted to sit and have coffee.<br /> <br /> Single Raw split into 3 jpgs in (-2,0,2Ev) and processed in Photomatrix. It was very wet and miserable today but all that is forgotten when you face a challenge...right? LOL. This is to the south of our property and is one of several vineyards in the region, quite literally 5 minutes drive (yep, timed it to the second). I haven't shot these vines before and was pretty happy with how the t/s worked out. The straight shots are pretty neat too. As I worked up and down the lines of vines the rain was setting in and I had to hold an umbrella in the left hand and work everything else with the right.
