How To Paint A Twilight Sky

This shot was taken from the front yard of my grandparents house in Lloydminster, Alberta last month when we traveled up there for my Grandpa's 80th birthday.

There had been intense atmospherics and switching between brilliant sun to crazy rain all day long, so there was an especially intense sunset this particular night.

Here you can the willow tree that stands on their lawn as well as other trees in the neighborhood creating lovely natural framing for this gorgeous sunset.

Reflecting On A Summer Evening

Taken last Thursday out at our RV site at the Sheep River Campground, here you can see the lovely pond our spot looks out onto and the peaceful late evening sky and trees below reflecting in it.

I liked the splashes of colour added by the paddleboats on the other side of the pond.

Intense Bow River Sunset

Taken about a month ago from the middle of a bridge at the finale of an amazing spring sunset over the Bow River, here you can see dramatic clouds and fiery sunlight over the majestic waters below.

Intense Sunset Glow

Up a bit later than I intended to be tonight, so I thought I may as well upload something before I attempt to sleep!

Here is tonight's sunset, taken just a few hours ago on a late evening riverside walk with Beefy.

It was fairly overcast, but, in teh final stages of the sunset, this intense orange glow appeared between the horizon and the heavy cloud cover; it was pretty amazing!

Magical Sunset Silhouettes

Well, ended up having a spare 15 minutes this morning before we have to leave for our trip, so here is my last 60D upload until next week, a shot I took and edited earlier this week.

Here you can see a beautiful pastel hued sunset through elegant tree silhouettes.

Must leave for our trip; have a safe and fun weekend, my friends, and I will do the same!

Golden Goslings

Well, my friends, just to let you all know, I will be away out of town until Monday evening, heading way up north to Lloydminster Alberta with Beefy, my dad, younger brother, and sister (Lisa is working all weekend) to visit my grandparents on my grandpa's 80th birthday.

I may upload a couple shots from my cell phone while I am out and about, but no more 60D uploads till at least Monday evening!

And I plan to come back with MANY wonderful new photos, haven't been up there in waaay too long and so am very excited for the trip!

Anyways, in this photo here, you can see some gorgeously cute golden goslings by the riverside this evening, taken during a lovely sunset time walk with Beefy.

There was a whole big family or two of geese sitting calmly by the riverside enjoying the sunset; there must have been at least 20 goslings and 4 to 6 full sized geese!

I was somehow able to get within 2 or 3 feet of the group before they all fled into the water, and, even though I got many shots of the whole group, this close up of these three goslings here was probably my favorite shot of the bunch.

Another shot taken at Carburn Park last night during a lovely late evening lakeside walk with Beefy, here you can see a beautiful spring sunset reflecting in the perfectly calm, untroubled waters, with the trees finally wreathed in luscious green!

Imposing Sunset

Taken this evening in Hull's Wood, a lovely riverside hiking spot a short drive from my house, this intense, imposing, and impressive cloud formation was moving majestically across the water in the final stages of a beautiful spring sunset.

It was really quite awe-inspiring!

Our skies are very turbulent right now due to the weather switching between sunny and light rain (but always staying warm), but that drama in the sky sure does make for some incredible sunsets!

Divergence

Another one of my very favorite photography spots, here you can see the Bow River splitting itself into two streams, one large, one small, as it flows around this small rocky island, which is accessible during the warmer months of the year (except after heavy rains).

There was a gorgeous sunset in the sky and it looked so wonderful reflecting in the still waters splitting in front of me.

I had to wade about 6 feet out into the river to get this shot, but the cool evening water felt nice on a gorgeous spring evening

Oh and you can even see Beefy exploring the shoreline!

Also, I have included two previous shots from this location, both taken with my old Nikon Coolxpix L120, in the comments section below.!

Another shot from Beefy and I's wonderful late evening nature walk last Friday, here you can see beautiful blue hour light reflecting in the calm, still waters of the Bow River.

This looking south down the river, and everything was bathed in soft blues and pinks; if you look north/northwest from this spot, the setting sun was illuminating everything in fiery shades of red, yellow and orange.

There is a reason this spot is one of my favorites for photography!

Had to drive out to the Sheep River Campground tonight to put the batteries back in the RV for this upcoming season, and took a lovely sunset walk with Beefy while I was there.

Here you can see an amazing spring sunset reflecting on the completely calm, still waters of the Sheep River as it flows through the campsite.

It's been a while since I uploaded a photo of Beefy, so here he is looking all "What are you pointing this camera at me for AGAIN, Dave?" by the riverside last Friday night.

The sunset reflections in the water were gorgeous and Beefy had just finished taking a big drink as we had been walking for a while!

On Molten Pond

Tonight, Beefy and I went for a long late evening walk.

The weather was absolutely gorgeous, and Spring finally seems to be here to stay; there are little green shoots and buds and leaves popping up everywhere, the sun is shining down, it's so warm outside, I think we will have a lot of amazing flowers soon!

The walk was amazing and invigorating as well!

This shot was taken at one of my very favorite spots; now I have posted a LOT of photos from this spot over the last few years, but not so many with my 60D, not of moments like this, anyway, I am very proud of this one.

It is an awesome spot because you can walk right down onto the riverbed and explore this wonderful little island between two streams of the river, and, at sunset time, the reflections in the perfectly still, shallow water are just amazing!

You can see even see Beefy in the foreground there taking a drink to quench his thirst and cool down!
