Dumbo... a timeless classic.

...picture originally underexposed – so I went the other way with it with curves adjustments in RAW. I think sometimes a blown out sky isn't so bad.

Yes, this is yet another picture of Cinderella Castle. What makes this one unique, however, is that it is a vertical panorama. I took two landscape shots, one of the upper half of the castle and the other of the lower half and foreground and stitched them vertically. In reality I used two shots here out of necessity as I busted my ultra wide angle lens. But when you really think about it, a two-shot 40mm (full frame equiv) panorama is the only way you could get this exact field of view, if I'm understanding right. I remember seeing an incredible shot that Code did with an ultra wide angle lens a few weeks ago. The main difference, other than his is at night, is that I can see by looking at his photo he was a few steps ahead of me – and I actually think I like that composition a little better. But you know, this was one of those experimental things for me and I actually intended on doing much more of this style of shooting but really just kind of forgot. I need to train my mind, in the future, to use this method when I just can't get it all in, in one frame...

So I have to admit that I was very skeptical about the refurb of this attraction with the new Disney characters going in. I really wasn't sure how they'd fit in. The last time I'd been on Disneyland's IASW was the only time I'd been on it as it was closed for refurb last August when I went. Before the refurb I was a little disappointed and thought that the WDW version was the better attraction (besides DL's impressive outdoor queue). But now - wow, they really did this attraction up and it looks amazing! The new Disney characters fit in so seamlessly that I'm certain many people that have never experienced the attraction probably don't know that they weren't always there. I was quite impressed with the improvements and with all the improved and freshened colors this attraction was a real joy to shoot. If you've been around my photostream for a while, you probably know that I like me some vivid colors, so this attraction is a perfect match for me, which - coupled with the fact that my kids like it so much - is probably the main reason I love it so much.

I worked long and hard to get rid of some nasty red color cast on this image, so I hope you like it!

This one was taken when the park was still open - the kids had just gotten off the ride for like the 3rd or 4th time - I had to try to time it right between loads as to try to get no one in the frame. In fact I believe the tilted composition was partly due to the fact that there were people about to enter the frame off to the left. Although slightly saturated, the colors of this scene really aren't far off from what is pictured. It truly is a neat looking ride at night.

Anytime I see these balloons setup with a nice background I can't resist snapping a picture. These balloons were tied to a stroller in Fantasyland. I noticed them when we were coming out of dinner at Pinocchio's Village Haus and thought - why not? Yeah these balloon pictures are all over, but what's one more, right?

This is one of those lucky shots where I just happened to be composing a sunset castle shot when the fireworks for the castle stage show - Dream Along With Mickey shot off. Did some creative dodging and burning in the edit, which accounts for the deep rich colors on the left and bright highlights on the right...

Although I much prefer the overall look and feel of the "Peter Pan's Flight" exterior of Disneyland (if you haven't seen it search for pictures, it's pretty cool), I really like this detail and the rest of the Peter Pan characters they've put up on the building at the Magic Kingdom.

Quick Fact: The original intent of the Disneyland version of this attraction was for the guests to fly through the ride as if they were Peter Pan. Audiences did not quite grasp this concept and were left wondering, "Why wasn't Peter Pan in the Peter Pan ride?"

I love vivid colors, so the fact that this ride is so colorful makes it a perfect fit for me for photographing. That coupled with the fact that my 5 and 8 year old girls love this attraction makes it a must see every trip for our family...
